I'm a photographer based in Whitby, North Yorkshire and can mainly be found pitching my tripod's legs into the sand somewhere on the Yorkshire Coast, however on the odd occasion I may also be found inland too! I take mainly landscape and seascape images and who wouldn't if they lived in my neck of the woods? Like my favourite works of art, as opposed to just liking a painting the best pictures are
the ones that move me or evoke some spark of response...and that's what I strive to capture in a photograph. If I'm doing my job then hopefully you will feel the same, if only with just one of my photographs. Photography for me is often about capturing familiar scenes & enhancing them. The British journalist William Leith wrote, "Photographers never have much incentive to show the world as it is" & I would agree with that. Long exposure photography, using light & motion captures what the naked eye cannot see & here you will see many images taken when the camera's shutter has been opened from just 1 second to 12 minutes. I believe in the school of thought, "If you want to take interesting photographs, photograph interesting places" and that's what I intend to do. So far I have mainly busied myself taking images from the Yorkshire Coast and the NY Moors plus West Cornwall this summer. However, my next series of images will be taken in Northumberland, then Glencoe in the Highlands of Scotland followed by trips to the Isle of Eigg, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District, all by the end of 2012. Please drop by regularly as I will be updating the website with new photographs and a blog telling you what I'm up to.
