Vote for funding of The Artisan Project!!! The State Government are allocating 30 million tax payer $$$, vote for a small portion of that to go towards supporting and growing The Project, it will establish a Store, Market and Workshops space where locals can shop local art and support local artisans. The East of Melbourne has a rich history of producing art that is being lost to locals buying cheap or mass produced imports. When we visit hip city markets and stores in St Kilda or Fitzroy or trendy regional and coastal towns we can shop local artisans spaces where local arts flourish. Melbourne’s Suburban East however has distinct lack of retail spaces supporting local artisans. This means a loss of our culture, artists are pushed out of retail due to high retail margins, they simply can’t compete with mass produced imports. Let’s provide them a space to get started where local people and companies can shop and support local arts, it’s critical to saving a piece of Melbournes Eastern Suburbs Arts . Imagine if , , and could easily source local ceramics, pottery, glass and art work, or if locals could purchase gifts and home decor created by their local artists. This project is great for artists who struggle to make a living from their incredible artistic gifts and it’s good for the local economy keeping locals buying local Australian made arts such as , , , , , , , etc.
Government funding to these projects is allocated by voting residents in the .
