We had a big fight as a samurai under the blue sky this year as well! Totally about 900 people joined this festival this year. It is getting more popular year after year. Hope we see you next year again!!

We had a great final event of “Sake Brewing from Rice Growing project” last Sunday. At last we got our original bottles of organic sake. Please check the pictures of original labels. We could experience special and Japanese unique things like rice planting and harvesting, Japanese paper making, sake brewery tour and so on through this annual event.

Most processes are recently done by machines. Hand work is inefficient compared to their work, but it makes us realize the importance and pleasure of making things. Anyway we hope you become deeply interested in and experience it. You should definitely discover something if you do it!

Hello everyone!

At last, this is the final event of sake-brewing project. We can get the sake made from organic rice we have planted and harvested. We will put our original designed label on the sake bottle on the day and this project will be accomplished.

Also the Amazake (sweet fermented rice drink) making will be provided in a traditional way as the light sake brewing experience. Actually we will ferment the malted rice with special water prepared for brewing. It should become an authentic Amazake. It is highly recommended for women because of lots of vitamin and natural essential amino acid.

　みなさん、こんにちは。お米作りから始めているこのプロジェクトも、ついに最後の回となりました。これまで作ってきた有機のお米が日本酒となります。当日、各自が和紙にデザインしたラベルを貼り、オリジナル日本酒の完成です。

　またお酒造りの簡単な体験として、麹を発酵させる昔ながらの方法で甘酒作りもします。この際、酒造で使われる仕込み水を使うので、より本格的な甘酒になるでしょう。ビタミンや天然の必須アミノ酸を多く含む甘酒は、特に女性にはお勧めです。

Hello everyone!
Join the Samurai Festival, which was one of the most popular Another Japan’s events last year. Come feel the Samurai spirit there! The 4th battle of Kawanakajima is truthfully re-enacted in this Festival. We don’t only wear the Japanese armor but also act out a sword fight. It will definitely be an exciting and unique experience.
With approximately 900 people expected to participate in this amazing day, you will also have amazing interactions with people from all over Japan as well as internationally!

-About the battle of kawanakajima
Yamanashi Prefecture, known as ‘Kai’ in that era, was governed by Takeda Shingen . Takeda was a talented leader and had a worthy rival, Uesugi Kenshin. Uesugi was also a poweful leader in north-central Japan. The battles of kawanakajima over the course of 12 years are especially famous between them. The 4th battle was the toughest among them.

去年企画して人気だったお祭り、川中島合戦戦国絵巻に参加して侍を体感しよう！このお祭りは5回に渡り繰り広げられた「川中島の戦い」の死闘の中で一番激しかったと言われる4回目の合戦を史実に基づき忠実に再現したものです。鎧を着て行進するだけでなく、刀を使った殺陣もあるので、きっと貴重な体験になります。
当日は900人が参加するような大きなお祭りになるので、Another Japanでの国際交流だけでなく、色々な地域から参加してくる人たちとの交流も楽しみの一つです。

Hello everyone!
Surprisingly we have only two events left from this sake-brewing project. For this time, we are going to visit one of famous local sake breweries and learn about all steps of sake brewing process.
Also we will experience the label making for the sake bottle using Japanese handmade ‘washi’ paper named Hosokawashi. Enjoy unique experience in Ogawa-machi this time as well!

As some people may already know, Japanese handmade ‘washi’ paper was added to UNESCO's Intangible Heritage list today! Hosokawashi, also one of the registered products, is from Ogawamachi in Saitama Prefecture where we will visit on this trip.

Is anybody interested in organic food or music!? This event is much suitable for them! There are two festivals, Harvest Festival and Ogawa Organic Fes 2014 in almost same place and we plan to join them. We get an opportunity to taste the first rice crop of this year and several organic foods including organic tofu or beer there. They should be healthy and delicious!
