A great evening at the German Ambassador’s residence in Washington DC: celebrating the German National Day: the commemoration of German Unity, the reunification on October 3, 1990. As usual: Petrus stopped the rain right at the hour when guests arrived. Great speeches by German Ambassador Andreas Michaelis, the Governor of New Jersey Phil Murphy and Nathaniel Liminski, Minister for Federal, European, International Affairs of North- Rhine Westfalia (NRW) emphasizing the strong and close relationship of the Federal State of NRW and New Jersey. The Federal State of NRW ( my home State) was this year’s partner of the celebration. The food was excellent, the wines exquisite, and my favorite beer: Veltins on tap! As always good company and the German Army Band playing in the beautiful Beer Garden under the canopy of the huge trees got everybody up to dance. Christian and I arrived in Bordeaux. The Bordeaux Winetour 2022 starts tomorrow. We just did our tests. We are reading to go. I am so very much looking forward to visiting a series of fantastic chateaux and tasting their wines after a two year pause.
