Each night, your ship will anchor in sheltered bays. During the day, your experienced crew will take small groups ashore.

The exact itinerary depends on the conditions - but previous voyages have seen penguin rookeries, glaciers, seals, birds, and various flora. The further south you voyage, the more Minke, Orca, Humpback, and Killer Whales are likely to travel with you.

🌙 We’ve always cherished the night sky, whether sailing under constellations or trekking through remote wilderness.

Lately, we’ve been thrilled to see more people embracing the magic of nighttime adventures through “noctourism”, shifting their perspective on darkness from something to endure to something to explore. “Noctourism” involves seeking out adventures under the cover of darkness which comes with the bonus of avoiding the heat and the crowds.

📍 If you've found yourself looking for a trip, to embrace the darkness and step out into the night, here are 9 adventures that we think will take you there... ⬇

⛵On the 11th February 21:30 UTC (16:30 Ship’s Time) the DARWIN 200 voyage rounded Cape Horn!

Cape Horn, located at 55.98°S, 67.29°W, is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago of Chile. It is notorious for its treacherous conditions, with howling winds, massive waves, unpredictable currents, and freezing temperatures that have challenged even the most experienced mariners for centuries.

It's a huge achievement for the whole crew! This voyage leg welcomes a total of 27 people on board from a range of countries including the Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, Denmark, Germany, UK, US, Australia, and Canada.

We like to think that when it comes to adventure, age is just a number and that's certainly the case for this voyage leg, the youngest sailor was born in 2003, while the oldest was born in 1955.

From here the ship has 9 more days to go to reach 50° South on the Atlantic side before sailing onto the Falkland Islands.

Logbook update from this 100+ year old ship ⬇

2 January 2025 - 55’10.1S 064’07.8W course 261′ speed 7.5kn

Today we spend most of the day in the fog.

Sometimes so thick we could hardly see anything outside the boat and sometimes we felt we could almost see the horizon.. but only at 21:00h did it lift and make room for spotting land and later some stars!

Our small little world felt cozy, no outside world on this first day of the year, just us.

But then we weren’t completely alone, because we got so many new visitors! We saw whales in the morning, most likely Minke Whales, then we saw Hourglass dolphins, spectacular with their black bodies and bright white stripes.

Our little bubble was visited by the Cape Petrel, or Cape pigeon, a very pretty sort of petrel!! We had many albatrosses around, big wanderer Albatrosses and slightly smaller black browed Albatrosses. There were giant Petrels, Prions and Wilsons Petrels! AND a pod of Pilot Whales!! Ach what a day!

Their current voyage takes them from the Falkland Islands to South Georgia and Antarctica. Before spending the rest of 2025 sailing North to Patagonia, Hawaii, Alaska & sailing the North West Passage ⛵️

⛵ 2025 is the year DARWIN200 complete their 40,000 nautical mile global voyage and return to the UK 📍

The journey so far has seen them sail to some incredible locations - but the impact of the voyage has gone far beyond that.

📍 During the voyage legs they’ve been undertaking citizen science projects. Recording air and sea temperature, completing wildlife surveys and studying micro plastics.

📍 At each port stop they’ve supported the next generation of young conservationists to connect with local conservation projects. Where the ship has been used as a floating laboratory for the week.

They’ve already come a long way but the next 6 voyage legs still promise to be an incredible adventure. Sailing to Cape Horn, Stanley, Cape Town, St Helena, the Azores and finishing in Falmouth.

We can’t wait to share clips from the rest of their journey - and plans for what this much loved ship will do next!
