The Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán (UADY) building is located at the intersection of streets 57 and 60 in Yucatán. This historic colonial edifice currently serves as the central campus of the university. The striking stone portico adorning the chamfered corner was designed by the sculptor Enrique Gottdiener. Stepping inside, you're transported back to its origins in 1711 when it housed the College of San Pedro of the Royal and Pontifical University of San Francisco Xavier, whose cloister still stands within the current structure. Over time, it evolved into the Royal Literary University and then the Literary Institute by 1867. In the courtyard, surrounded by elegant arches, a central well serves as a focal point. The building features two original floors with an added second floor.

Santa Lucía Park is This is a small park boarderer with nice restaurants. There's a cute high seat with a Visit Merida logo on it; also called Parque de los Héroes and is a romantic corner located in front of the Santa Lucía church.

The floors are made of English brick, and in the center of the park, there is an obelisk.

Palacio de Gobierno was completed in 1892 and is an important piece of Mérida's history. Today, it is not only a fully functioning government office, but also a museum that visitors can stroll through to see local artifacts (like murals and oil paintings) and admire the building's colonial architecture.

Palacio de Gobierno is open to visitors every day from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and admission is free.

In 1980, it became the Anthropology Regional Museum, best known as Palacio Cantón. From that date, until 2012, its exhibition was focused on archeological material of the pre-Hispanic Mayan culture pieces. From 2012 and on, its content has been changing, presenting important temporary exhibitions of different topics. Today, after 56 years from its opening, the Palacio Cantón Anthropology Regional Museum is an example of harmony between past and present, being a dynamic place, which offers exhibitions, conferences, cultural and academic events to promote knowledge about pre-Hispanic and contemporary populations.

Palacio Cantón was built during the first decade of the 20th century, as a familiar residence of the General Francisco Cantón Rosado. General Cantón (1833-1917) was an outstanding character during his times. As a militar man, he fought in the Caste War against the rebel Maya people. He owned cattle haciendas and was a railway entrepreneur, he also was Yucatán’s Governor between 1898 and 1902. In 1932, the Cantón family sold the building to the Yucatán government.

Uxmal (pronounced “oosh-MAHL”) is said to be among the most attractive of Mexico’s archaeology centers and should be included in any itinerary that intends to visit the most important Maya ruins.

Attractions
The 120-foot high Piramide del Adivino (Fourtune Teller) stands majestically above the other buildings, and a climb to its summit will reward you with spectacular views of the entire half-square-mile ancient city.

The Cuadrángulo de las Monjas (Nuns’ Quadrangle) was believed to have been used for military purposes, perhaps an academy or palatial complex.

At the Palacio del Gobernador (Governor’s Palace) you can admire the 300 foot-long facade described by one scholar as the finest structure in Uxmal.

Other attractions include the Juego de Pelota (Games Court) which is nowhere near as large or impressive as the one in Chichen Itza; Casa de las Tortugas (House of the Turtles), one of the smallest buildings, but quaint and interesting all the same and La Gran Piramide (The Great Pyramid), a 100-foot, 9-level structure adjacent to the Governor’s Palace. As is the case with the Magician’s Pyramid, those prepared to climb to the summit of the Great Pyramid will be rewarded with spectacular views.
