In 1696 a window tax came in, that taxed people on how many windows they had. People of course started closing up windows. This is were the phrase ‘day light robbery’ comes from. We’ve opened 2 small windows in the old house, but i wonder if there’s more? I also wonder if i’m getting a horrendous tax bill if that came back, or would it just count as 2?

Plas Gwyn is still most certainly a farmhouse and that i’m proud of. It’s engrained in the fabric of the home. From the wealthy landowners who initially build it and did none of the actual farming, to the 19th Century were things changed and the owners had to farm, hence the dairy being added and inside layout changed a little to accommodate a family. Now it’s of course owned by farmers (us) who do farm the land, but short term is an Airbnb. Bridging the gap between ‘city folk’ and farmers and the further rural economy is an added bonus of hosting guests. The gap has become alarmingly large and helping a few people understand a bit more is very rewarding.
