in 1987 the Nkoya and the Lunda communities decided to have a drinking competition.

A week before the competition, lundas sent Katambi to Dongwe to confirm if the competition will be held.

On arrival, the Nkoya people of Dongwe brought 10 ltrs of their strongest brewed beer.

Katambi asked if he could taste and he was permitted to.

Instead of just tasting, he finished 10Ltrs at once, and said ''This is ok 😁... Now where is the main beer?''

People were all shocked because nobody had ever taken more than 5 glasses of this beer and stood breathing!

Then they asked him, 'Are you among the competitors? Katambi said, 'Me? Nooooo! I didn't qualify...!!
Competition was cancelled.🤣🤣🤣

YOTAM MUSABI, ALSO KNOWN AS (KAPIRI MPOSHI), IS CONSIDERED THE FATHER OF ALL SCAMMERS IN KAPIRI AND ONE OF THE FIRST SCAMMERS IN THE 1930S.

Mwansa Chama - Accomplished Historian and researcher.

In 1930, the first white explorers on their way from Broken Hill to Ndola rested in a village on a hill called Kapili Mukoshi, which means 'the hill with a neck' in Swaka.

Later, a man named Yotam Musabi, who was the spanner boy at Northern Rhodesia Railways and lived in that area, found an opportunity to deceive the explorers. He told them that the chief was very sick and unlikely to survive. He claimed that he would be next in line once the chief passed away.

Excited by the prospect of having a friendly chief for better deals, the explorers gave Yotam Musabi a map, watch, and binoculars before proceeding to Ndola. Despite his refusal of the gifts, Yotam Musabi requested to be called "Kapiri Mposhi," meaning a 'Lover of women and business.' The explorers agreed and spread the name as they travelled across the country.

Upon returning to Kapiri Mposhi, the explorers realized that Yotam Musabi was a trickster working for Northern Rhodesia Railways. Despite their efforts to revert to the original name, the villagers preferred Kapiri Mposhi, and the name persisted even after independence. This is the kind of history they don't typically teach.

CONSTRUCTION OF VICTORIA FALLS BRIDGE!
In 1905, 115 years ago, British Engineers constructed the Victoria Falls Bridge linking Zambia and Zimbabwe. This was part of Cecil John Rhodes mega project of connecting Africa from Cape Town to Cairo via rail.

Note, however, that the bridge was built/prefabricated in England and then shipped to Mozambique and transported to its current location from the Port of Beira by rail for assembly.

The assembly took only 14 months and it fit according to specifications.

Note, that this was 125 years ago before computers were invented. The British Engineers had earlier come to assess the Victoria Falls gorge, take measurements and designed the bridge based on the geology of the gorge, then went to England to build the bridge!

To this day, the bridge is fully operational carrying both trucks and cargo trains - 115 years later.
