1. The Government continues to follow cl​osely WHO situation report on the spread of Coronavirus.

2. Given the increasing number of countries affected by COVID-19, the Government advises all Indonesian citizens to restrict non-essential outbound travels.

3. For Indonesian citizens currently travelling abroad, it is advised to return to Indonesia at the earliest possible time to avoid further travel disruptions.

4. A number of countries have enacted policies to restrict the movement of persons. All Indonesian citizens are requested to monitor closely information available through the Safe Travel Application or contact the hotline of the nearest Indonesian Mission.

5. The Indonesian government has suspended its visa exemption policy for short-stay visit, visa-on-arrival and diplomatic/service visa-free facilities for all countries, for a period of 1 month.

6. All foreigners/travelers who wish to visit Indonesia must obtain a visa from Indonesian missions in accordance with the purpose of their visit. Upon submission, applicants must provide health certificate issued by relevant health authorities from their respective countries.

7. In addition, a number of country-specific policies are as follows:

7.I. First, measures for visitors from China remain in effect, in accordance with the Statement of the Minister for Foreign Affairs on 2 February 2020 (kem.lu/l0) and the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights Number 7 of 2020 (kem.lu/l1​)

​7.II. Second, measures for visitors from South Korea, Daegu City and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province remain in effect, in accordance with the Statement of the Minister for Foreign Affairs on 5 March 2020 (kem.lu/l2)​.

​7.III.Third, deny entry or transit to Indonesia for visitors/travelers who have travelled to the following countries, in the last 14 days:

​ a. Iran;
b. Italy;
c. Holy See;
d. Spain;
e. France;
f. Germany;
g. Switzerland;
h. United Kingdom

7.IV. Fourth, all visitors/travelers must complete and submit a Health Alert Card to the Port Health Authority upon arrival at Indonesian airports. Should the travel history indicate that a person has travelled to the countries above in the last 14 days, such person may be refused entry to Indonesia.

7.V. ​Fifth, for Indonesian citizens who have travelled to the countries above, an additional screening shall be carried out by the Port Health Authority upon arrival:
a. If the additional screening shows initial symptoms of Covid-19, a 14-day observation in a government facility will be applied;
b. If no initial symptom is found, a 14-day self-quarantine will be strongly recommended.

8. ​The extension of Stay Permit for foreign travelers who are currently in Indonesia and have expired, shall be conducted in accordance with the Regulation of the ​Ministry of Justice and Human Rights No. 7 of 2020​​
​​The extension of Residence Permit for holders of Temporary Stay Permit Card (KITAS)/ Permanent Stay Permit Card (KITAP) and holders of Diplomatic Visa and Service Visa who are currently overseas and will expire, shall be conducted in accordance with the Regulation of the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights no.7 of 2020​

9. These measures will take effect on Friday 20 March at 00.00 Western Indonesia Time (GMT+7).

10. These measures are temporary and shall be evaluated pursuant to further development.

Despite organizing retreats, I never thought I would actually participate in one until we facilitated Sandy Van Herberghen's Painting by the Sea retreat last September. This year I decided to join because it had looked like so much fun... and it was AMAZING! Speaking as a participant having done this retreat, if there is anyone out there who ever thought of exploring their creatively intuitive side, you owe it to yourself to do this. Big shout out to Sandy and the fantastic ladies I met and created with!

NYEPI MARCH 7th - We will be offline for 24 hours. It's that time of year again... Nyepi falls on March 7th this year. The Island is winding up for what will surely be a day and night of celebration with the Ogoh Ogoh parade as the main event tomorrow night on the 6th. The parade is to appease the evil spirits so they don't bother the Balinese during Nyepi as one is more susceptible to evil doings by the spirits while meditating. The parades end with the burning of the Ogoh-Ogohs to symbolically cast out evil.

Also known as 'the silent day' or Balinese New Year, Nyepi is a day of self-reflection and meditation, and thus anything that might interfere with that purpose is restricted. During this time, the island of Bali shuts down. No phone, no internet, no power and you are sequestered to your abode. No one's allowed out on the streets or the beaches. The harbour and airport are closed. Tourists have to stay in their hotels. Even police are not allowed out. Only Nyepi security , or Pecalang, are out patrolling the streets. The Nyepi silent time begins at 6am March 7th and ends at 6am on March 8th.

Galungan marks the time when ancestral spirits visit the Earth. The last day of the celebration is Kuningan, when they return, which occurs 10 days after Galungan. The three days leading up to Galungan as well as the days in between, before Kuningan, see all sorts of ceremonial events happening in conjunction with this holiday. This is one of the best opportunities to see real Balinese festivities going on, rather than just your standard dinner and dance performance that’s done strictly for the tourists. Galungan and Kuningan follow the Balinese Pawukon calendar. The Pawukon consists of 10 different concurrent weeks of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 days. So, all of the ceremonies and holidays that are a part of this calendar happen about every six months, but the dates will change from year to year. This year Galungan and Kuningan are February 7th & 17th, 2016 and will be celebrated again April 5th & 15th, 2017.

Nyepi 2016, the Balinese New Year, also known as the 'Silent Day', is particularly notable this year as it coincides with a solar eclipse that will be viewable from Bali, starting at 7:22 am, ending at 9:42am with the maximum eclipse at 8:27am.
