And all those who have stayed at The Old Fort or in one of our other Villas.

You have all enjoyed the sun and the friendship of the people of Bequia, St Vincent, and the Grenadines.

On your visits, you will have come across some things that an organization called Action Bequia has delivered, like the Walkway from Port Elizabeth to Lower Bay, the recycling stations and over 130 water tanks for local homes. They have been helping Bequia for eleven years and have a spotless record of turning money into tangible results.

For the past four years since the overwater section of the hugely popular Princess Margaret Trail was washed away during unusually ferocious September surges, the route has been kept open by using a temporary route beneath the cliffs. However, a rock fall last summer was a reminder of the inherent instability of the cliff above, and the decision to invest up to US$100,000 in the rebuild was approved by the all local Board.

The contract has been awarded to the well-established 'Offshore Welding & Salvage' who have extensive experience in similar work throughout The Grenadines, including Mustique and Canouan. Work has now started and is expected to be ready in good time for next season.

On April 9, 2021, the people of my homeland, St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), watched as the La Soufriere volcano erupted. It has since erupted 9 times and has blanketed more than ¾ of the island with volcanic ash. Because of the fallen ashes: Breathing has become increasingly difficult, even with masks on, because ash particles can feel like inhaling glass. Approximately 20,000 citizens have been evacuated and relocated to one of 80 government shelters and surrounding areas including some of my family. Farmers have lost their entire crops and have had to abandon their livestock - leading to a food crisis. Many of the country’s water supplies have become contaminated - leading to a severe water shortage As a chef, I want to help my country in the best way I know how and that's by feeding people. I reached out directly to the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines and was fortunate to have them approve the Feed St. Vincent Initiative.
