The geographical situation of the village of Cardigos is undoubtedly curious , because it is precisely in the center of Portugal , between Vila de Rei and Proenca - a-Nova , the thirty-nine degrees and seven seconds north latitude and to a degree , and six minutes 53/2 of the meridian of longitude east of Lisbon . The foundation Cardigos is shrouded in the distant past, but judging by the megaliths ( dolmens , dolmens ) thought to have been occupying this region many centuries before Christ. Situated as the town of Almond , a connection point for various communication networks of Hispania , are found several witnesses as some Roman bridges, temples , aqueducts , etc. .
