Dress up in your olde tyme best and get Back from the Boley festival off to a good start on Friday, on The Long Walk Home.
This family-friendly storytelling walk prepresents the joyous journey that Hilltown boleyers made each year as they returned home after a summer living in the mountains.
Families and friends were reunited after their time apart and it was a time of get-togethers, catching up and celebration.
Stop with storytellers stationed along the route, who will share their stories and songs to help recreate the atmosphere. This is a truly special event.
It is also a great way to raise money for local organisations to benefit the youth of the parish. This year the walk is sponsored and the children of Hilltown will collect for their school as well as for Clonduff Youth Club. Sponsor cards should be returned on the walk.
The walk takes everyone across the Bann River and up Hilltown Street, at around 6.30pm, for the official festival opening in the Square at 7pm.

The Long Walk Home begins at Leitrim Lodge car park at 5pm. Eamonn Rooney's bus will transport participants from Ballygorian car park to the starting point at 4.30pm.
