Gary McParland has been an experienced landscape photographer for many years and has photographed amazing locations throughout Ireland many times over. Kathleen McCreesh started out as a landscape photographer and has moved towards wedding and portraiture photography in recent years as well as providing beginner photography courses in her newly opened studio. With an extensive mix of photographic

and teaching experience between them, it wasn't long before Gary & Kat came up with the idea to start hosting Landscape Photography Tours throughout Northern Ireland for photographers of all levels. And so 'Northern Exposure Photography Tours' was formed :)

These engaging trips take us on a tour through some of the most dramatic and facinating landscapes Ireland has to offer. Comprising of small groups you will have both photographers on hand to give experienced advice on subject selection, composition, how to get the best out of your camera and post-production in photoshop. Depending on the time of year locations will include the North Antrim coast, cityscapes in Belfast, the County Down coast & Mourne area and the various locations in Donegal. HI Everyone, We are going to County Wicklow in two weeks to photograph this beautiful county in Autumn colour!! We had four people booked onto this course but 3 have cancelled last minute just today.

As a result this tour might be the second one we have had to cancel this year due to cancellations meaning that we do not having our minimum numbers needed to run the tour. Because of this, from now on, to make a booking we will be asking for full payment. This is the only way Gary & I can be sure that we will have the numbers we need to run a tour without last minute cancellations and don't turn away people enquiring about a full tour, to end up needing to try to rescue a tour last minute.

What this means however is that we have 3 DISCOUNTED SPACES available on our tour from 17th-19th October at a reduced price of £275 as each person in the group had already paid £100 deposit. So anyone out there who can join us in a few weeks, please get in touch today as we only have three places at this reduced price :)

Thanks all!! Kat x

Bloody Foreland - One of the Locations we will be visiting next month on the Donegal tour

I only managed one evening to grab a few landscape shots on my trip this week to Donegal. Difficult as i forgot the Quick Release Plate for my tripod so this was shot hand held whilst being eaten alive by midges. Happy with this one though, taken at Bloody Foreland. :)

So True, Ansel Adams Was One Of My First Real Influences In University.

I love the way he was wholly obsessed with travelling the world to capture landscape photographs in an era that meant doing so required a huge amount of effort and expense. He would take a huge team of people to carry this equipment and whole darkroom with him so that he could process the glass plates (negatives of the era) on location (from brazilian mines to the top of mountains) as they would not survive the elements long enough to be processed when he got back. As landscape photographers in a day and age when photography is so much easier in comparison and financially accessible to the masses, we are lucky!!!

I hope you're all looking forward to getting out with your cameras this autumn / winter. I am looking forward to having more time to do so after the studio closes in a few weeks.... Remember it's not the camera, it's the photographer that sees the potential in what they choose to photograph.

Why not come and see the potential in Ireland's beautiful landscapes - You will not be disappointed - Kat x

Really enjoyed Our Tour around Antrim Coast this weekend and finally got the chance to capture some new landscape shots. Very tired after 4 am starts but well worth it as the group really enjoyed it. This was a bit of fun at The Giants Causeway using some wire wool to create Orbs. If you google "wire wool photography" there are loads of tutorials on this technique.

2014 tour dates for photography tours around Ireland

01/06/2014

Gary & I are really looking forward to our first outing of the year next weekend!! It feels like an age since we have gotten out shooting landscapes together.... Due to the cancellation we still have room for another photographer or two if anyone would like to come along :) As it is, we have a great group of people on board and it looks like it will be a fun and busy weekend photographing the Antrim coastline and a few special places inland. We are packing the wire wool and torches as well so we will hopefully get a chance to do a little night time shooting as well :)

I'll post photographs and a little blog about our tour when we get back! Looking forward to seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new ones - Have a lovely week everyone, Kat x
