Our weekend escape was pure magic, featuring stunning bird's-eye views of Hidden Gold Homestead and the lush greenery and rolling hills of the South Burnett region. We indulged in an unforgettable wine-tasting journey, savoring the most exquisite flavors at Cloverly Estate Cellers and Dusty Hill Vineyard. Highly recommend a day trip or a weekend escape out here

Boolboonda Tunnel.
Who needs street cred when you're an abandoned railway tunnel? Boolboonda still got it at 630ft long though, making it Queensland's longest unsupported artificial tunnel. O'Rourke & McSharry built this bad boy between 1881-1884 and it's now a heritage site since '99.

It is with the deepest sadness that we announce one of the most beloved members of our zoo family, Holly the Chimpanzee, passed away earlier this week.

Holly passed on Wednesday morning after becoming suddenly and unexpectedly ill late Tuesday afternoon. Her death has left zoo staff in shock, and both staff and the chimp troop are grieving their loss.

Holly has been at Rockhampton Zoo for almost 11 years and was loved by so many people. We want to extend our condolences to zoo staff during this time, as well as the community who have always supported and loved the zoo and Holly.

We want to assure the community we did everything we could and that Holly had the best possible care right until the end. Our staff stayed with her throughout Tuesday night on shifts to ensure she wasn’t alone.

We will closely be monitoring the troop over the coming days and weeks to see how they handle the loss but they have done a great job in looking after Gandali and their welfare is our top priority.

We have been watching the East Coast Low currently affecting parts of the Gympie region.

The safety of our guests and the team is our number one priority and as such, have made the decision to cancel tomorrow’s (Sunday 23 October) train service.

The historic Gympie Station will also be closed.

We apologise for the inconvenience but recognise that weather events are outside of our control.
