Winter isn’t just for cozy fires — it’s the best time to cast a line in Western North Carolina. North Carolina Mountain Towns of Cashiers, Cherokee, Dillsboro, and Sylva fishing spots are ready for every type of angler:
🎣 For the pros: Hike 2 miles to Panthertown Creek for 3 miles of fishing bliss, or try your luck at Chattooga River, Whitewater River or Tanasee Creek.
🎣 For first-timers: The Tuckasegee River makes it easy, with over 20 miles of waters and the chance to snag the "Tuckasegee Slam"— brook, brown and rainbow trout all in one trip.
🎣 For the big dreamers: Head to Raven Fork, aka Cherokee Trophy Water. You can reel in massive 20- to 30-inch trout with a permit. Just remember — it’s catch and release, so bring your camera!
🎣 For families: Start the kids off right at East Laporte Park on the Tuckasegee River. Easy access, restrooms and well-stocked waters make it the perfect introduction to fly fishing.
