Her professional career began in cardiac rehabilitation where she provided exercise training for patients in the following divisions: Phase I & Phase II Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, a Wellness Exercise Program that emphasized lifesty
le changes to reduce disease, and an exercise program specially designed for patients with Parkinson’s disease. She also worked for the YMCA as a Fitness Program Coordinator, where she began her career as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, developing, directing and instructing exercise programs for youth and active older adults. Professional experience in both clinical and corporate settings demonstrates that success with health and weight management strongly depends on a synergistic relationship between exercise and nutrition. As an exercise specialist deeply concerned for the well being of her clients, Lisa desired to partner exercise training with nutrition education and lifestyle management coaching. In 2005 she obtained a certification as a Lifestyle and Weight Management Coach through the American Council on Exercise. Just three months later, she acquired a certification as a Nutrition Specialist, joining forces with the American Academy of Sports Dietitians and Nutritionists (AASDN). Lisa transitioned to the corporate fitness and wellness arena, where she worked for 6 years as a Wellness Director, creating and implementing wellness education programs and directing health promotion initiatives. The curriculum she designed and taught embraced a variety of topics, including weight management, stress reduction, lifestyle management, nutrition, fitness and disease risk factor modification. In March 2010 Lisa received advanced nutrition training with AASDN and is now a licensed Nutrition Manager Consultant, offering nutrition education and personal menu planning in conjunction with fitness and wellness programming. As an author and member of AASDN’s curriculum team, Lisa develops curriculum for adults as well as middle grade and high school students. Lisa combines her nutrition and exercise expertise with lifestyle coaching, motivating her clients to tackle common barriers to weight management success. Lisa is passionate about educating, empowering and equipping others to lead a healthy lifestyle so that they will experience improved quality of life, walking in total wellness in mind, body and spirit.
