Local Curling Enthusiasts Revive Historic Rink & Bring the Sport Back to Kent

Tunbridge Wells, UK – Curling is making a triumphant return to Kent with the relaunch of Tunbridge Wells Curling Club (TWCC), formerly known as Fenton’s Rink. The facility, which closed during the pandemic, has been given a fresh start under the leadership of businessman and curling enthusiast Andy Eaton, who has spearheaded its revival.

Fenton’s Rink originally opened in 2004 as England’s first dedicated curling facility, founded by Ernest Fenton on his farm just outside Tunbridge Wells. Over its 17-year history, it became a hub for leagues, junior curling, and community engagement. Following its closure, Eaton and a group of passionate curlers reached an agreement with the Fenton family to bring the sport back to the South of England under a new name and with a renewed focus on community curling.

A New Chapter for Curling in Kent
The club has undergone significant renovations, including an upgraded lounge with a new bar, café, TV screens for live game viewing, and improved seating. The ice rink itself has been fully insulated for better playing conditions and energy efficiency.

"We want Tunbridge Wells Curling Club to be a welcoming space for everyone," says Andy Eaton, the club’s new owner. "I fell in love with curling while living in the U.S. and missed the sense of community it brings. Our goal is to introduce more people to the sport, from complete beginners to seasoned players. We’re building a club where anyone—from ages 8 to 88—can enjoy curling."

Try Curling sessions for those looking to experience the sport for the first time.
Coaching programs to help new curlers develop their skills.
An active junior curling program for ages 8-16.
Adaptive curling opportunities for people with disabilities.
