Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, is renowned as the "Christmas Tree Capital of the World." This title stems from its long-standing tradition of growing and exporting high-quality balsam fir Christmas trees. The county’s ideal climate, rich soil, and generations of skilled tree farmers have made it a global leader in the industry.

The tradition dates back to the early 20th century when local farmers began shipping trees to Boston and other U.S. cities. Today, millions of trees are shipped worldwide, and the region is celebrated for its sustainable forestry practices. Lunenburg County's Christmas tree industry is a testament to the area's heritage, ingenuity, and natural resources.

The Halifax Explosion, one of the largest non-nuclear explosions in history, occurred on December 6, 1917, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It happened when the French cargo ship Mont-Blanc, loaded with explosives for World War I, collided with the Norwegian vessel Imo in the Narrows, a busy harbor passage.

The collision caused a fire on the Mont-Blanc, leading to a massive blast that destroyed much of Halifax and Dartmouth. The explosion killed nearly 2,000 people, injured over 9,000, and left thousands homeless. The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows 50 miles away and caused a tsunami in the harbor.

The disaster led to significant improvements in emergency response, urban planning, and maritime safety regulations. Today, the event is remembered as a tragic yet transformative moment in Canadian history.

The wonderful thing about the Princess and the Sea is that we are privileged to meet beautiful families. The sad part is seeing them go. Safe travels to this loving and joyful family.

Que c’est don bon d’apprendre à vivre au rallenti...

Pat and I visited and fell in love with the people, the view, the Princess & The Sea and the kindness of the area. Though we were all alone in this big 6 bedroom house, we knew that we had just the right lovers of life to share this treasure with. This is an unforgettable site with beautiful people, great sunsets fresh fish and incredible music.

What an amazing place to spend the summers. Come on over and join us.

Love, love, love

Pat and Lucie xxoo
