If you typically go to Walt Disney World, you should give the west coast a try.

Disneyland, the original park, is great for a Disney fan. Then we add in California Adventure for Avenger's Campus and Cars Land. These parks are very close together, something that Florida cannot say. You can hop between parks very easily and even walk to Downtown Disney and the resorts.

If you visit Disneyland in California you have the choice of three Disney resorts.

1. Grand Californian: Classic California Craftsman style with an entrance directly into Disney's California Adventure
2. Disneyland Hotel: There are towers themed to each of the original lands and monorail themed water slide.
3. Pixar Place: Newly renovated resort themed to all the Pixar characters and has a rooftop water slide.

All are within walking distance of both theme parks and Downtown Disney. If you are typically a Florida Disney visitor you will be amazed at how close everything is at the Disneyland Resort area.

Disney Cruise Line just launched its 6th cruise ship, Disney Treasure. It joins the line up of the Magic, Wonder, Fantasy, Dream, and Wish. Many of the itineraries visit one of the private islands, Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point.

Tonight we ate at 'Ohana at the Polynesian Resort. This was my daughters request for completing the D***y Challenge. No pictures of the plates of meat or the original sides platter, we dug into them too quickly.

This is one of my favorite resorts and restaurants.

Today is the start of Marathon Weekend. I hope all runners have safe and fun races. I'll be there to observe the half and full marathons to see my daughter and son-in-law run as they finish their first D***y Challenge.

Are you an Animal Kingdom fan? Do you love DinoLand?

January 12 will be the last day for the Triceratops Spin and Fossil Fun Games. Walt Disney himself told us that the parks would never be completed and this is one of the changes coming soon. These closures will make way for the Tropical America section.

What will you miss most from the DinoLand area?

Walt Disney World has many add on options, including dining plans. When you add a dining plan to your package it allows you to pre pay for your meals.

You will get the amount of credits listed per night of your hotel stay and you can use them at any point during your stay. Kids 3-9 will need to order off the kids menu when one is available.

One of the biggest advantages for my family is the ability to say 'Yes'. Especially when the girls were younger, by pre paying, I could let the girls choose what they wanted instead of being focused on the budget.

Do you make any resolutions or goals? I'd love to see what goals others have made for themselves.

One of mine is to experience some new travel experiences. I'll be trying a new class of ship on Royal Caribbean, attending (not running) a RunDisney event, and possibly trying at least one new cruise line.
