This was one of the more unique places I have visited on a cruise excursion. I saw bees without stingers, learned some history and bought soap made from the honey of these bees.

It's the time of the year that I am tired of cold and looking forward to the travels and adventures I have planned for this year. I am cruising to several new ports, trying out the Hideaway Beach Club at CocoCay, and then heading to Disney World in the fall.

Anyone else ready for some warm weather?

I'm making plans for several cruises and private islands/beaches this year. If cruising is your thing or you want to try it out, let's get something planned.

I will be sailing on 3 new to me ships this year, Royal Caribbean's Odyssey of the Seas and Jewel of the Seas and Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady. New ships, new dining, new experiences and I will share it all here with you.

So many options and some of them feel like an extra attraction.

My family trips wouldn't be complete without a ride on the monorail. The skyliner is another way to get between park and resort that feels like another attraction. For fun I have had trips where I try to do at least one ride on each form of Disney transportation.

Disney's Deluxe and Deluxe Villa Resorts are the most luxurious resorts with the most amenities. Based on where the resort is located it may be with in walking distance to Epcot, Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom.

There are many more room types from the standard room, which sleeps 4, up to the Grand Villas that can sleep up to 12 and several options in between. There are quick serve dining options, I ate at Captain Cook's and Contempo Cafe just this month. And then there are many sit down dining options and lounges, everything from Trader Sam's Grog Grotto to Victoria & Albert's, which has won AAA Five Diamond Award many times.

Do you want to watch fireworks from your resort? There are several options to do that in this level. Do you enjoy being close to the resort so you can take a break? This is the easiest level to do that.

This is the middle level of resorts, price wise.

Coronado Springs, Coronado Springs-Gran Destino Tower, Caribbean Beach, Port Orleans Riverside, and Port Orleans French Quarter are all part of the Moderate Resort level.

These resorts have a main pool with water slides or splash pads. Besides a quick serve dining area most of them have table service restaurants and lounges. At French Quarter you can get beignets and listen to jazz some evenings. At Riverside you can catch YeeHaw Bob in the lounge several nights a week.

The Port Orleans resorts have boat transportation to Disney Springs. Caribbean Beach is on the Skyliner route for Epcot and Hollywood Studios. All other transportation is done through buses.

These rooms are slightly larger and some have space for 5 (see the picture of Louis, he is on the fold down bed). Some of these resorts are large and due to that there are multiple room categories. Preferred rooms are available at most, and these get you closer to the transportation, dining and main building.

Walt Disney World has multiple categories of hotels. Today we are starting with the most economic, the Value Resorts.

These rooms will be basic and most have 2 queen beds, in many of these one of the beds is a murphy table. Four people can stay in the basic rooms. There will be a bathroom with a sink/mirror area outside of the tub/toilet room. This can allow more flexibility in getting ready in the morning.

Each of these resorts have at least one feature pool and one quiet pool. There will also be a food court and merchandise shop. The food court has both grab and go options and quick serve meals. Many of these can be used as meals and snacks if you have one of the dining plans.

The transportation from these resorts is mainly buses. The All Star resorts only have buses to the parks and Disney Springs. Pop Century and Art of Animation have the Skyliner as an option to get to Epcot or Hollywood Studios and buses to Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.

All Star Music and Art of Animation also have family suites. These rooms can sleep up to 6, kitchenettes and 2 full bathrooms. These are great if you have a larger group or even older kids who take up a bit more space.

If you typically go to Walt Disney World, you should give the west coast a try.

Disneyland, the original park, is great for a Disney fan. Then we add in California Adventure for Avenger's Campus and Cars Land. These parks are very close together, something that Florida cannot say. You can hop between parks very easily and even walk to Downtown Disney and the resorts.

If you visit Disneyland in California you have the choice of three Disney resorts.

1. Grand Californian: Classic California Craftsman style with an entrance directly into Disney's California Adventure
2. Disneyland Hotel: There are towers themed to each of the original lands and monorail themed water slide.
3. Pixar Place: Newly renovated resort themed to all the Pixar characters and has a rooftop water slide.

All are within walking distance of both theme parks and Downtown Disney. If you are typically a Florida Disney visitor you will be amazed at how close everything is at the Disneyland Resort area.

Disney Cruise Line just launched its 6th cruise ship, Disney Treasure. It joins the line up of the Magic, Wonder, Fantasy, Dream, and Wish. Many of the itineraries visit one of the private islands, Castaway Cay and Lighthouse Point.

Tonight we ate at 'Ohana at the Polynesian Resort. This was my daughters request for completing the D***y Challenge. No pictures of the plates of meat or the original sides platter, we dug into them too quickly.

This is one of my favorite resorts and restaurants.
