Post Covid updates.
I’ll post more as they come to mind, but here’s some info to get you started.
You may notice that during the flight to Denpasar airport that you won’t receive an embarkation card to fill in during the flight. This process is now entered electronically at the back wall prior to queuing up for the customs check. If you can, find a staff member to help you with the process as it can be quite daunting and time consuming if you aren’t prepared.
If you haven’t organised transportation, I suggest heading upstairs via the lift to the ‘drop off’ area to find a Bluebird taxi that is dropping passengers off. That will be your cheapest and most reliable option.
The exchange rate varies between 9200Rp and 10,000Rp to $1AUD at the reputable Money changers so it’s worth changing more money when you find a high rate. These rate fluctuate through the day so you need to be prepared to move quickly when the rate reaches 10,000Rp to the Aussie dollar.
Since Covid prices have increased and promos have decreased through the tourist areas. That being said, outside these areas you can still find reasonable deals in a range of goods and services.
I spoke to a fellow who ate Nasi goreng at a Seminyak hotel one evening and was shocked by a bill for 290,000Rp. This same dish retails for 20,000Rp outside tourist areas. Hence it pays to check all prices before you proceed at the moment. It seems companies are trying to recoup from their Covid losses at the patrons expense.
The ‘Grab’ app is one of the most popular new tourist aids at the moment. From cheap scooter rides to many destinations, to home/hotel delivery of food and laundry etc.
Some drivers don’t supply a helmet so if you employ their service be aware that you do so at your own risk, and even as a pillion passenger you may not be covered by travel insurance if you don’t wear a helmet and have an accident.
