Tau Naigani Resort

To all our valued guests, TC Winston struck Naigani Resort last night and has caused extensive damage to many of the buildings and the grounds. Fortunately no lives were lost, and all guests had been safely evacuated well before the cyclone entered the Fiji Group. With the limited communications, closed roads and continued bad weather and rough seas in the Lomaiviti Group, we are unable to fully assess the extent of the damage and determine the next steps for repairing the Resort. Therefore we are advising that the Resort will be closed for sometime. We will post updates as the situation becomes clearer.

6:55 pm Saturday (Fiji): Extremely intense Cyclone WINSTON has dipped SW and is making landfall on the NE coast of Viti Levu. The violent inner core of cyclone winds is moving onto land. If you live on the island—especially the NE part—***TAKE COVER NOW.*** This is the strongest cyclone ever recorded in the S Hemisphere. Winds are gusting up to 195 knots (225 mph/360 km/hr) near the center. If you're in a sturdy house or building well above sea level: STAY PUT. MOVE to an interior room. STAY AWAY from windows and doors. GET UNDER furniture if necessary. REMAIN INDOORS if you have sudden calming—that is the eye, and the cyclone is only half over. REMAIN CALM. It will be scary but it won't last long—the cyclone is fairly small and moving at a brisk pace.

Update - the eye is tracking to pass over Naigani around lunch time today, before moving over the top of Viti Levu and striking Lautoka, Nadi and the Mamanucas. Fiji's Tourism industry in for a major hit right before the start of the new season. Not looking good.

TC Winston tracking directly for Naigani Island.

Cyclone Winston has been upgraded to a category five, the strongest possible, as it heads towards Fiji with sustained winds in excess of 200km/h.

Well done to Noelani, who succeed in doing her first dive in the ocean, Discover scuba dive experience with us! What beautiful sea conditions to start your first dive. Simply shallow waters, calm conditions and a beautiful sunny day, with sea temp about 28 degrees celcius.. All fears and nervousness under wraps, she braved the new underwater world for the first time and loved it ! Well done from all of us!

Sometimes you can capture the photo but cannot always capture the moment or the experience until you dive it! December... the only thing cold on Naigani is the beer!! Sea temp about 27 degrees Celcius, Sea full of tropical fish, lobsters, sharks, for divers, dive sites for all levels available. Snorkellers and non divers have a great area to chill out and our beach front house reef is excellent for that snorkel or swim or beginner dive! Finish the day, with a sunset cocktail! What do you plan for your December?
