For thousands of years, Native peoples have celebrated harvest feasts long before settlers arrived—traditions that inspired what became Thanksgiving. These gatherings were a time to give thanks for food, family, and the gift of life.

As we celebrate Native American Heritage Month this November, we honor our traditions, share our culture, and continue relearning and preserving Indigenous history.

We are grateful for the opportunity to reflect on our heritage and give thanks.

November is Native American Heritage Month, with the theme “Affirming Native Voices: Visibility, Leadership, Service.” We want to share how our local Navajo-owned business embodies these values.

Visibility – Our culture is vibrant and visible in every aspect, from the striking colors of our traditional jewelry to the breathtaking landscapes that surround us. The land we call home is rich with vivid hues, from the rocks and sand to the sky above.

Leadership – For us, leadership means embracing change and navigating the unknown with resilience and faith, always grounded in prayer. It is about setting an example for others and inspiring confidence in our community.

Service – Service extends to our homeland, our people, and our customers. There is great joy in connecting with guests, engaging in meaningful conversations about our history, the land, and our shared stories.

Thank you for your support and for celebrating Native heritage with us. Your continued encouragement uplifts Native-owned businesses like ours!

🚨Staying informed about potential hazards like forest fires during a heat advisory is crucial for safety. For those traveling from St. George, be aware of the active fire causing significant smoke. Similarly, travelers from Phoenix should be cautious of fires near Flagstaff.
🚒 Always prioritize safety and stay updated through news reports and social media.

🌵Arizona's heat is indeed intense, particularly due to the low humidity. Here are some tips to stay safe and enjoy your summer activities:

1.🚰**Stay Hydrated**: Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty. Avoid alcohol and caffeine, as they can dehydrate you.

2.⛱️**Seek Shade**: Try to stay in shaded areas whenever possible to avoid direct exposure to the sun.

3.⏰**Time Your Activities**: Avoid hiking or engaging in strenuous outdoor activities during the peak heat of the day (usually between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.). Early morning or late evening are better times for these activities.

4.🥾**Wear Appropriate Clothing**: Light-colored, loose-fitting clothing helps to reflect the sun's rays and keeps you cooler. Don't forget a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses.

5.🧴**Use Sunscreen**: Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 to protect your skin from sunburn.

6.🌡️**Know the Signs of Heat Illness**: Be aware of symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, headache, and excessive sweating. If you or someone else experiences these, move to a cooler place, drink water, and seek medical attention if necessary.

☀️Enjoy your summer safely!
