Chupaflor Divination is the culmination of 8 years studying tarot, building altars and navigating a daily ritual based through tarot. I received my first tarot reading on a deck of playing cards 8 years ago, felt called and developed an obsession that continues to guide me today. Over the past eight years tarot has been a light in dark places, advanced my personal growth, informed my spiritual jou

rney and altar building and inspired my art work. I was raised Catholic, became a punk, artist, writer and an activist. Although I have not been a practicing Catholic in over 20 years I still find affinity with La Virgen de Guadalupe, Mary Magdalene, St. Using the same tools that have been passed down to me from my Abuelas combined with tarot, altar building and intuition I hope to guide you, the querent, to the answers you seek.

Every tarot reading session is unique. I bring a small personal altar and I ask that you bring one small item to add. I prefer to do divination where there are no distractions (your home, my home, a quiet spot in the park) but can accommodate reading in a quiet corner in a cafe. I collect tarot decks and read from different decks and my understanding is through studying the Rider-Waite archetypes. A session can last 60-90 minutes to create allow for the querent to ask questions, reflect back their perspectives of the cards and to pull more cards for deeper understanding. All sessions are sliding scale $25-$50 (cash, venmo and paypal). Trades accepted on an individual basis. I travel frequently and can be found in New Orleans, Phoenix, The Bay Area, Los Angeles, Portland, Olympia and Seattle. I will make travel announcements as they come up.

Happy Halloween from New Orleans! In the past I have panicked about drawing cards that appear upsetting upon first glance. After years of practice I have changed my relationship to them. The can symbolize burden, burn out and mark a period of struggle which can all seem intimidating. This card of burden also guides us to lighten the load. You've reached a critical point in whatever journey you've decide to take on and it's time to empty that pack and see what is unnecessarily making things heavier. Make a list of the things that you carry emotionally, physically or whatever and decide what serves your life purpose and is worth the burden. This could also be a simple ritual of organizing your purse or backpack and just lightening the daily load of clutter that makes it hard to get to your wallet at the cashier or deciding to make time for breakfast instead of reading in bed before a day of errands. This cards also asks us to persevere, to remember that we are strong and capable of following through on the path we decided to take. Strength takes all forms including asking for help. The end of the year is approaching and we can certainly make it to the end having completed what we set out to accomplish. Interested in a tarot card reading? I was hoping for this series of collages to follow after each sign entered the sun. Unfortunately, I can't force myself in any schedule ever. Better late than never! It's rare for me to meet a Leo I don't like. I have a cold constitution and am drawn to their warmth and solid nature. Leo season is waaaay over but winter is coming and I am staying warm thinking about how sweet my summer was while I am settling into fall. This is a handcut paper and fabric collage. The summer has filled my house with visitors and very little time to attend to my art and tarot projects. But who complains about wild times and good friends? Not me! Daily Guidance: Ace of Cups reminds us to open ourselves up to the love around us. It is a reminder to open ourselves to the small joys even when everything big around us seems to be crashing down around us. Noticing a kindness from a stranger, watching your dog watch birds, receiving a compliment, noticing bees dancing on a flower. These little things stack up and build a better picture. Allow yourself to experience a little joy despite it all. With Mercury about to go retrograde, with the intensity of eclipse season and evil of the current administration it is important to be aware of all that is still good .

The Cancer collage is finally done! I The mix tape is ready for cancer buddies! I have been going through each signs lessons and emotions with each collage. This one has been particularly emotional with the news of this "administration" further discriminating against Refugees, Black and Brown people and death feeling like its closing in all around us. I am reminded you can't stuff all of your emotions all the time. I finished this sober and fully in the swing of my feelings. Hope y'all like it. It took the entirety of Ta**us season to create this collage. Ta**us is slow and steady, it takes it time. Always late but always shows up. Close to the earth and stabilizing. Yesterday I spent the day wandering around on a hillside east of the cascades. I decided to bring my deck in case the mood struck to pull a card. A friend recently gifted me the Herbal Tarot deck and it has really helped me with understanding and remembering plants through tarot archetypes. I pulled the on a hillside dotted with aconite and felt comforted by the message. The Kinight of Wands asks us to embrace asks us to embrace our potent creative energy and apply it to the areas in our life where we feel like we are faltering. This card is our second wind and asks us to be present with our struggles and make an effort to complete what we set out to do with the Ace and the Page. Use the knights energy to navigate you out of a crisis, it is will power. Take care to not over commit, fall in love with ideas that go nowhere, or trample the idea of others with you fire. Aconite is also called Monkshood and is an extremely poisonous and potent plant. It is best used by the beginner as a talisman to overcome apathy and move us forward along our journey. (Very poisonous, use caution when handling) In Chinese medicine it is used to overcome illness after an emotional shock, to remedy a cold dispostion, low metabolism and arthritis.

Pretty much everyday for the last 8 years I start my day by drawing a card. Even when my life devolves into chaos or I am on the road or I am really busy I always make time to pull a card before I leave the house. This practice gives me something to keep in mind as my day unfolds.

I light a candle, shuffle my cards, cut the deck once and choose the top card. Some days I read one interpretation and on days when I have a little more time I read from different books and study and write in my journal.

Today: The King of Swords from the Herbal Tarot deck

Swords denotes air and speaks of our personal power to communicate and calls on us to turn our thoughts to concrete ideas. In this particular card the king is close to the ground sitting on a rock looking relaxed. They are are looking relaxed, they are comfortable and are resting at the end of the journey the Page of Swords began. What have you been planning? What thing is in your head that you have been trying to manifest? This king is asking you to put whatever you have been spending so much time thinking about to practice. To say the honest thing, To maintain a boundary, to put theory to practice. You have come very far, acknowledge that you know what your talking about.

When we have reached our goals or an end point in mental suffering or finally made up our minds about something we feel good about the things we have accomplished. This king's energy is a respite after hard work. The St. John's Wart in this card is all about the way we feel when we are calm and content. It is asking us to focus on making time to sit on a rock or in front of your typewriter or with your art supplies and say those things you have been meaning to say, write that letter, manifest that project.

The king also asked us to be weary on becoming over confident, critical, a gossip or overly arrogant and righteous. If you are feeling that you may succumb think about someone you aren't angry with and send them a nice text, make them a present, write them a letter, make plans with them. Take a break from the things that are frustrating.
