Property +27 WEE 90 -17

Maybe the muddies and Wolf Rims from big Brother WEE 110 will see a better result in the mud than the Continentals did on Friday. Sorry no pictures of WEE 90 sliding down the hill side ways but it was lashing down.

Morning 1. Woke up in Nanango outside the RSL. Lovely little place, coffee shop open and it has almost warmed me up. It was a warm 10 degrees last night with some rain so a perfect start to the trip. Just need to get Wifey out of bed now.

Finding things to do in Perth is a little bit of a challenge for visitors. Searching web site, looking in papers and you still miss things.
Lucky for us we did find a gig to go to on Sunday night, Downstairs at The Maj and it was great
So look up the tour dates as he on the east coast next and go and support some home grown live music.

This weekend we escaped Perth and drove 3hrs south to the Margaret River Region.
Visiting friends in Busselton gave us the opportunity to view a windy coastline. We visited a few places and of course as always a Brewery. There is so many wineries to visit and the countryside has lots to view.
Best thing was visiting Cape Leeuwin, the most South-Western point of Australia named by Captain Flinders and the point where he started his mapping of our coastline.
Enjoy the photos.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
Sometimes we have to post the ugly as life is not always good. Picked Garry up from the train station today and got side swiped. Yes I did look before pulling out onto a one way road and needing to move over three lanes, don't know where the ute came from just felt the hit.
Everyone is unharmed, insurance claim complete at a cost of our excess and booked in to be review tomorrow in Perth CBD.

It a different time for us at the moment with only being able to do things at the weekends. We have been so use to doing tourist things during the week and feeling like we were the only ones out and about but a trip around the Swan Valley on a Saturday was a different matter. We seen lots of coffee shops, cheese factories, chocolate factories, winery's and brewery's to many to list as you drive the 32km loop that is the Swan food and wine drive. It a great day out with lots for everybody. We also seen lots of groups on hen days out, a few party bus tours and lots of families out for the day. It was worth enjoying the crowds and tasting what this region has to offer.

Longest day as gained 2.5hrs as we crossed into WA. Let us complete over 1100km today. Perth is now only a day way. Enjoy the photos of Australia's longest straight road, the grey ribbon felt endless but the view did change a little. Most excitement for the day was the constant loss of pressure in the back tyre which is now changed out to the spare.

Operation Carwash. Well it took near 45 minutes the happy carwash attendant in Port Augusta told me to get the worst of the mud off WEE90. I just wish the dirt and stones could have stuck to the road as well as the underside of the car. Would have been much safer to drive on.

What a difference a day can make in the Outback.
We arrived at Birdsville on Wednesday to clouds and the good chance of a storm so we took the easy option and booked into the hotel for the night.
The late afternoon trip to Big Red seen the storm surround us as we returned to Birdsville which seen 58mm of rain that evening
Thursday was a mad dash out of the outback down the Birdsville track where we did get bogged (See Garry post).
10hrs in the car on dirt track but we made it to Lyndhurst by 6pm last night and the start of the road again, we did have a few extra kg of mud attached.
Today all the roads are closed so we are happy we made the choice to get as far as we did, it was a big day but great views as we run from the storms

So this was the Birdsville track which is now closed. The picture depicts my near bogged moment when i thought the side looked better than the middle. Stay in the middle folks as it may be deeper but it is much more solid. One of the rain clouds passing by too

Day 2 of our journey to Perth seen us travel form Charleville to Windorah with a lovely stop for early lunch at Quilpie.
Windorah was a small town with really only the pub, but we had a nice relaxing afternoon enjoying a few cold beers and listen to local tales.
The next morning seen us fighting the flies and been eating alive by the sand flies as we packed up the camper, this after a night of restless sleep in 26deg heat with high humidity. The fun of the desert.

So we made it to Birdsville today and just got far enough up Big Red to notice the storm coming in. Trying to get back over the dune seen me get out to drop the tyre pressures but by the time that was done i ended up a nice shade of orange as the sand blasting started. A few pics before the storm.
