A walking stick is quite essential for our trip in mount fuji. Since I am a pilgrim for 2 times shikoku henro pilgrimage. I always believe that by holding a wooden stick (金剛仗) means the god is with me. But it is not mandatory to buy one, because you can always bring along your own hiking sticks to climb mount fuji like many people do. However, there are many huts or shops provide very good looking stamp, prices are various from shop to shop. But i believe it is the best souvenir i can get because i do physically use it for my hike and it also look great.
Apart from the first dawn. Ochudo trail is another thing you might want to do. Basically, it is a circle walk on the summit. We did it and yes, why not to spend more time on the summit after your hard time climbing???
Finally. The first dawn (御來光) People believe that the first dawn is like a god presence. It is for sure worthy to see and you only have 5-10 minutes to see this until it becomes too bright.
