The MULINO MORANDI is one of the few mills left which was used to grind chestnuts and wheat. It is situated at an altitude of 570 meters among chestnut, oak and pine trees, along the Cigno stream, part of the Ciuffenna river on the Pratomagno slopes. The mill seems to have originated in the 12th century. Other historical notes regarding the property may be found in the Leopod land registry and in
documents commissioned by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1809, about the economy and production in this region. In fact, for the past three centuries, chestnut flour has been the staple food of the mountain’s inhabitants. The restoration of the mill favored the use of eco-friendly materials following bio-architecture systems to enhance the characteristics of the original structure and to preserve the unique spirit of the place. Every single detail was given meticulous attention for the sole purpose of intensifying the refined luxury of simplicity. The garden along the river was deliberately kept with native plants including ferns, hornbeams, oaks and mosses. There is also a small orchard where you can pick up seasonal vegetables and aromatic plants. Morandi Mill is situated in a strategic location close to the most important tourist destinations of Tuscany: Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Chianti and Casentino. In this environment, it is possible to contemplate and appreciate the energetic rhythm of nature as this area is not frequented by mass tourism. Guaranteed total privacy for your perfect holiday!
