Patagonia essentials - here’s what to pack👇🏔️
👕Layers! - Patagonia really is at the end of the world and not far from Antarctica. Whether you come in the summer or winter, layers and waterproofs are a good call (just bring more in the winter!).
🥾Hiking boots - if you’re planning on exploring the beautiful landscapes on two feet, invest in a good pair of walking boots and break them in before you come! Hiking poles can really come in handy here too.
🎒Your usual travel essentials - Bring a day pack to carry your snacks, water, and layers while you’re out exploring. Be sure to bring a water bottle, camera, and a personal first aid kit.
💪A strong mind and body! - This one you can’t pack, but you should bring it with you. Prepare for high winds, rainfall and potentially strenuous activities. We recommend doing some moderate training before your trip to prepare for the amazing hikes you’ll go on.

Wondering when is the best season to visit Chile? Keep reading!👇
The short answer is that it depends on where you want to go, what you want to do and in what conditions. Here is a quick guide to each season, but send us a message if you want more info!💬
Summer☀️
Most people come in summer (December-February) when temperatures are warmer. Most places are open at this time of the year for outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, mountain biking and more. You can see some great wildlife like penguins in Chiloé and Magdalena Island and whales off the Chilean coast too!
Spring & Fall🌷🍂
If you’re more flexible, consider coming in Spring (September-November) or Fall (March-May) when there’s more availability, fewer tourists, and cooler temperatures. There are loads more benefits to visiting out of season, too, like the fiery fall colors, greater chances of seeing wildlife, and far less ferocious winds in Patagonia!
Winter❄️
Easter Island and Atacama are great year-round destinations and are fun options if you’re visiting in the winter (June-August). Although cooler at this time of year, you’ll be able to get out and about without many issues. You can enjoy a feeling of exclusivity at the destinations and you get the best night skies at this time of year!
Visiting in the winter means you can also enjoy the best of Chile’s winter sports during these times, like skiing in the Andes or snow trekking in Patagonia!
If you have any questions, just send us a message and we’ll be happy to help.

Traveling to the Atacama Desert or Uyuni?🌵
It's important to know how to prepare before you venture up to around 8000 ft above sea level.
Here are some of our best tips for dealing with altitude:
1. Eat light the day before and the morning of your travel.🍎Think lots of fruits and veggies, grains etc. Avoid anything fatty.
2. Avoid alcohol and caffeine.☕Hydration is key to dealing with the altitude and these two things can hinder that.
3. Include potassium in your diet.🍌On the same note, potassium can help keep dehydration at bay! You can find potassium in foods like bananas, avocados, spinach, yogurt, and kale.
4. Coca leaves.🍃This is the local remedy to dealing with altitude sickness and it works as a great preventative too. Add some to hot water for a delicious tea to drink on the journey.
5. Take it easy!🧘♀️As eager as you may be to explore these amazing places, take a day or two to acclimatize with gentle activities.
If you have any doubts about traveling to altitude, talk to your doctor before traveling.

Have you ever tried a pisco sour? 🍋🍹
It's one of Chile's most iconic cocktails and it's delightfully refreshing on a hot summer's day, after a day of exploring the magnificent landscapes, or skiing down the impressive Andean slopes.⛷️
But what is it? Pisco is a sweet grape brandy, usually served as a pisco sour or a piscola (pisco with cola or lemonade). Although there's some (occasionally heated) debate about whether pisco originates in Chile's northern neighbor, Peru, or in Chile's luscious Elqui Valley, you'll find pisco in every bar and restaurant.🍇

This truly breathtaking park was founded on May 13, 1959. Back then, the Lago Gray National Tourism Park was mostly dedicated to livestock farming, and only the most daring adventurers explored the area. 🧗♀️
These days, the park is much larger and, thanks to some amazing rewilding projects, bursting with wildlife. There are few places in the world as special as this one, where you can enjoy such raw wilderness and natural beauty. 🦙

Our Story
In 2011, EcoChile Travel was founded by their partners with the goal of creating a new kind of travel company; one based on concepts like ‘eco-friendly tourism’ between tourist and local host, tour flexibility, and balancing responsibility with their clients through friendship and the environment. While the company has grown and now leads a variety of excursions all over the country, those core goals – friendly atmosphere, small groups, personalized travel, sustainability – still form the bedrock of EcoChile Travel.
Honest commitment to sustainability
Maximizing sustainable practices, both within our office and on all our trips, is a cornerstone of who we are as people and as a business. We work with locally-owned suppliers who are committed to minimizing waste and partnering with boutique, environmentally-friendly accommodations.
Unique experiences away from the crowds
We want you to have a truly memorable time with us in Chile, and that means avoiding the crowds that can diminish or detract from an experience. Most of our itineraries are hand-crafted by taking you to popular attractions outside of the peak visitation hours used by larger tour groups to provide a more authentic, personalized experience.
Global minds with local ties
Our international team of passionate, multi-lingual professionals is dedicated to providing you the perfect travel experience. We understand the needs of international travelers and combine a global mindset with in-depth, local knowledge and expertise.
Peace of mind
Making you feel that you are in good hands is key for us. This is why all our trips include a personal welcome to Chile, either through a dedicated guide at the airport or via a welcome call at the first hotel (in the event you aren’t overnighting in Santiago). A 24/7 emergency line is available if you need emergency assistance during your stay or in case unexpected situations occur. Payment is made through secure, vouchsafe channels, and our fraud
protection and liability insurance ensures safety and security.
Constant quest for innovation
Searching for new ways to improve our trips and operations is part of our DNA, and we are constantly on the look-out for new destinations, activities, experiences, and technologies to integrate into our work to support our team, our partners, and our clients.
