Dear PATA Laos members,
I would like to draw your attention to a unique promotional activity: the Mekong Mini Movie Festival (www.mekongminis.com), held by the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office.
The first year of the campaign was a big success, and with over 300 shared eligible videos of 60 seconds or less, it achieved over 1.2 million video views and a social reach of over 22 million - meaning it was able to inspire millions of people all over the world with shared travel experiences in the Greater Mekong Subregion. In addition, the winners won trips to destinations in the Mekong countries, resulting in even more high-quality content, influencing more people to experience the region.
The campaign is now in its second year (ending October 31, 2019), and they would like to now open up the campaign to any travel business in the region to participate to make this the first truly collaborative and inclusive tourism marketing campaign.
This is very unique globally, and provides the following benefits to companies such as yours:
There are 3 different ways to be part of the Mekong Minis:
1. Provide Prizes (and bring the best content creators of the Mekong Minis campaign, from bloggers, photographers, videographers etc., to experience your product or service)
2. Run your own small social media contest, integrated into the Mekong Minis campaign, to drive business while promoting the region.
3. Sponsor a travel theme (hashtag), and position your company as a leader within the Mekong Minis campaign (last year, Rosewood Hotels & Resorts claimed the hashtag
Please see the attached presentation for more information. Option 1 is the easiest way to participate, and options 2 and 3 have limited availability. Please contact the MTCO to participate and help promote the Mekong Region as an experiential tourism destination.
The Mekong Minis 2019 have been launched. Participate by tagging your videos of memorable experiences in the Mekong Region with + #[country] and post on your Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube to win exciting travel prizes in the region.
