Body Boat & Blade
I learned about the concept of BBB (body, boat and blade) over a decade ago during BCU trainings in Baja, Mexico and USA west coast. The idea of the concept is about finding ways in which we combine our bodies, kayaks and paddles to obtain a certain outcome. The way I understand it, there is a hierarchy in which our body comes first, followed by use of kayak and then use of paddles last.
Last fall -due to very low river levels in the Saint-Lawrence River- I found a new standing wave. After surfing some time, I realized that I was able to take the blade out of the BBB equation with proper use of my body and positioning the hull of the kayak to my advantage.
The result were some paddleless rides in which I thrived for balance and I was able to find it at certain moments.
A joy that reminds me of mediation techniques, as for brief moments I was able to just be in the moment without any thoughts of past or future.

About the Saguenay Fjord:
In this KLN adventure we travel down the Saguenay river from Ste-Rose du Nord to the town of Tadoussac over 7 days. On our way down we camp on the beautiful sites maintained by the SEPAQ (Quebec Parks). The Saguenay is a tidal river co-managed by Parks Canada and Quebec. The park is home to resident beluga whales and right where the Saguenay meets the Saint Lawrence we find one of the richest sea environments of the world. Immense cliffs carved by ice created this beautiful fjord.
