Making friends when you travel can be a little intimidating. You’re not sure when or if you’ll ever see these new friends at all. But when I met Leara & Jarred in my 2017 Europe trip I instantly knew we’d be long term friends. ❤️🤗

Good vibes do not lie! Thanks for such a lovely weekend in London you 2. Miss you & your fur babies already. 😭🐱🐈✨

It’s nice to be able to meet up with people anywhere in the world you decide on. Reunions are so fun. And now that covids lightening up, we shall all reunite!! ✈️👌🥳

Do you like making friends when you travel or do you prefer to keep to yourself?

Last nights dinner at Propaganda was lovely 🥰.. I’ve been meaning to try this place in Madrid.

It’s a wine cellar and Italian restaurant. The service was good and the vibes were on point, I recommend it if you’re in the area.

There are 2 locations -one in barrio Salamanca and 1 in barrio Chueca. We tried the one in Salamanca.

It’s one of my favorite barrios and it’s close to home hehe.

What are you up to this weekend?

Did you know Madrid is an entire region? That means it’s much more than just a city (although the city gets alll the love haha) 😝

However that doesn’t mean theres not much to explore outside of the city, in fact it’s quite opposite.

There’s so much to do in the suburbs of Madrid, one of the funnest activities is hiking.

It’s the perfect city break with lots of green to lift those spirits.

Grab your reading glasses and meet me on the blog at https://travelxbritt.com/hikes-in-madrid/

Here’s a complete foodie’s guide to Lisbon 🇵🇹 Portugal’s food scene:

Here are 8 unmissable stops you should consider to eat.

😅Save & BM for later so you have this list handy for when you travel there.

1. 🐙 Adega Dom Luis - An authentic restaurant of Portuguese food with a friendly attentive owner. The portions are huge so go hungry.

2. 🎺 Foxtrot - The best drinks in a super fun venue, cocktails are great. You can also order appetizers

3. 🍰 Pasteis de Belem - The best place in Lisbon to get the authentic Pastels de Nata. Belem district is also gorgeous so go for a stroll after getting these authentic desserts

4. 🥂 Toca Da Raposa - Not that Portuguese, but a beautiful minimalistic cocktail bar with great drinks. They change their menu frequently so come with an open mind.

5. 🏪 Time out market - A market with tons of food options but saved the day for an early breakfast (that wasn’t bakery goods)

6. 🐟 Tabuaria Do Paco - Nice portuguese restaurant with seafood options, good service, beautiful decor

7. 🍷 By the wine - A super fun wine cellar with great decor while you visit

8. 🥞 Fauna & Flora - Great option for Brunch, but go with time because its busy, very busy

Have you explored the food scene in Lisbon? There’s so many options! 😋

Post cards from Lisboa 🇵🇹🤘 Está tudo ótimo hehe .. Lisbon is one of my fav European cities bc there’s so much to do here .. just incase you’re planning on traveling here do note Portugal is taking covid very seriously .. almost every single place you walk into you need to show either a negative test result or your vaccine card. Imo this makes travelers feel extra safe.

Also the best pastel de natas in Lisbon are def def def def 100% .. We went today I got 2 and then went back for 5 😜 little slices of heaven.. try them if you come!

Have you been to Lisbon before?

How to spend the day in Chueca & Malasaña, 2 of the most unique barrios of Madrid:

1. Head to (Barberi location) for some American styled breakfast. (4€ pancakes on Thursday 🤯😋)
If there’s any meal that is Americas forte, it’s breakfast, grab it here!!

2. Go to to learn about the historical period of Romanticism. Super pretty & very interesting to learn about. 3€ entrance - free Saturdays after 2pm.

3. Walk to malasaña & go thrift some threads at .. currently have a sale going on 40% off in vintage locations (50% nonvintage locations -IMO malasañas the best store but feel free to form ur own opinion)

Have you been to any of these barrios of Madrid?

Madrid is such an amazing place to live. But if you can’t move, come visit! It’s hard to not fall in love with this city the more time you have to explore.

Tons and tons, and tonssss of beautiful corners. Madrid is full of things waiting for you to discover.

Photo dump of a little brunch sesh at in Opera today .. such a beautiful area.

Everywhere off this metro stop it’s like 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Amazing place to go for a walk and just take in Madrid aesthetic. So beautiful. Highly recommend!

A nice day in the area can entail going for brunch and then going for a stroll to burn off what you ate.

Haha brunch can be alot of food 🥞, might want that walk. 😉

5 must read reasons why you should visit Madrid in Autumn:

1. Less crowds, beat the summer tourists (local tip - it gets insanely hot in Madrid, u don’t rly want to be here when it’s 100 degrees + Fahrenheit)

2. The parks & gardens are insanely beautiful changing colors. Make sure you check out https://travelxbritt.com/parks-in-madrid/ to learn more about parks.

3: Get to experience local fall traditions such as cocido, wild mushrooms, chestnuts, and other warm soups. 😋

4. You get to experience the beginning of the holiday season (fun fact: madrileños love Xmas too!!)

5. Cheaper hotel stay since you’re not traveling during peak season. Guaranteed!

Autumn has its charm. Do you like to travel during the fall time?

Nuts for nuts 🥜 loved these candied treats!!

If hiking Camino Schmid go to the restaurant at the beg of the hike next to the ski stand.

Can’t miss it. Inside you’ll find these nut vendors where you can buy these candied nuts. They have almonds, cashews, & peanuts.

2€ each!

Love that nuts (candied or not) are soo affordable in Spain, in the states nuts & things like dates can be pretty steep.

Would you try any of these candied nuts? This was my first time seeing these vendors but I hope they stay a while & it’s not seasonal hehe. 🤞

Never met a Spanish pastry I didn’t like 😋😍

seriously guys meet Miguelitos de la Roda!!!🤤

This is an incredibly delicious cream filled puff pastry that was born in La Roda in Albacete.

Story has it that pastry chef Manuel Blanco created Miguelitos in 1960.

Manuel than gave it to a friend to try who loved it so much he named the pastry after him: Miguelitos (how cute 🥰)

La Roda is Blancos home town. Together we have Miguelitos de La Roda.

Our friend brought us a box of these on the way to Madrid from Albacete. & im happy to say I can’t wait to get my hands on these again. Hehe 😉

Isn’t it intriguing how you go somewhere in the same country but it’s so0o0 different?

Madrid & Barcelona couldn’t be anymore opposite.

Madrid reminds me of a way cleaner NYC and Barcelona reminds me of Cali. Super relaxed vibes, much friendlier people, etc.

Which to visit? I say both. This isn’t a case for which is better bc they both have their own charm. 🤩

On another note- if you are moving to Spain: these are amaaazing bases to be located in. Madrid = center of Spain & Barcelona = coastal life.

Happy Friday! 🥳🥳 Swipe 👉🏽 for more details in the 🌆 big Apple 🍎

Most of these shots are in NYC’s meat packing district.

The area gets its name from slaughterhouse origins. By 1900, there were 250 slaughter houses that were in the district.

Now the area is home to one of NYC’s most glamorous neighborhood.

Here are 3 highly recommendable nightlife options in the area:

1. Le Bain ($$$) nightclub & rooftop - super great views & vibes 👀

2. Catch NYC ($$$) roof top & seafood 🦞 restaurant - intimate vibe, cute decor, great service

3. Gansevoort rooftop ($$$) hotel & rooftop - recently renovated & 360 views of NYC 🍸

Make sure you save & BM for later if you’re traveling to NYC. Knowing where to go is 💥major (rrrr) 💥key 🔑

Baby britts not so baby anymore. 😮

Another year older, another year wiser 🥳🤩 pre-30 aka 29 years old let’s do this!! I used to be scared of aging and the thought of getting old but not anymore. Things keep getting better. If you take care of yourself you kind of age like fine wine 🍷 or maybe some delicious aged cheese. U pick 🤗😂

I’m confident that as long as we keep being willing to learn and adapt, we’ll allll go far in life! Work hard, play harder (life can’t be all work 24/7, ya gota enjoy it too) and protect the ish out of your dreams. Not everyone cares them as much as YOU DO.

Guadalajara 🏔Guadalajara 💦 Guadalajara 🏖

This is an area that’s about an hour and 15 minutes from Madrid 🚗 and is incredibly beautiful.

It’s common for people who live in Madrid to think there’s nothing there, that’s what most people say about Guadalajara.

This is why its important to travel with an open mind and take things with a grain of salt. If you look for things to see, you’ll most likely come across something that interests you plus I really love finding hidden gems!

We will definitely be back to Guadalajara to explore and stay tuned tomorrow if you want more details, I’ll be finishing up a blog post on what to see here.

Have you ever heard of Guadalajara?

Previous weekend enjoying the beautiful day being tourists hehe. 🇪🇸 Here are some awesome tips on how to see your city in a new light:

~do a guided tour
~follow an itinerary
~find places you’ve never been too (big chance you haven’t seen everything yet)
~eat at a touristy restaurant
~walk instead of drive - this ones rly great, u see so much more when ur on foot

We had an awesome time at the .. it’s a great activity to do if you’re a plant lover or just want to do something different. We were looking forward to seeing the cactus room but since it’s inside you have to book a guided tour in advance bc of covid .. the garden outside is still great though.

Before that we went to eat at El Brillante which is a popular place for calamari sandwiches. It’s yummy & so simple, but it’s definitely something you have to try in Madrid. It’s typical from the Spanish capital.

We also went to .. this ice cream is literally so good. Try the pistachio & thank me later 😛. Have you tried of any of these local travel tips yet?
