We will be taking our 7th trip to Italy in November. This time, we will visit Sicily. Our itinerary includes 2 days in Catania, 8 days in Taormina and 5 days in Ortigia. Our first flight reservations on ITA were canceled, so we had to scramble to change some lodging reservations. Booking.com made that easy to do. Fortunately, for us, due to the changes, we are spending 3 additional days in Taormina. More to come as we get closer to departure. Ciao, ciao!

Since 2011, we have spent weeks in Firenze (Florence) and we still love it. We were there during the following months: June, July, September, October and November. Probably, our favorite month is November due to somewhat smaller crowds and the cooler weather. We have visited all of the sites ( and others, like The Bargello Museum which shouldn't be missed) mentioned in this article multiple times. It's best to spend days or weeks in Firenze if you can. It's a great base for train trips (we have never rented a car) to Pisa, Lucca, Venice, Rome and Cinque Terre if you are an ambitious traveler. Obviously, those day trips can be rushed if you try to do/see too much. Your itinerary should include "down days" where you just relax and enjoy Italian life. Of course, we have been fortunate enough to spend no less than 14 days in Italy per visit which has allowed us a lot of opportunity for day trips and relaxation. Happy travels to you.

As I learned from managing Michelangelo’s David, visitors can be nudged away from the joyless in-and-out mission for selfies and souvenirs, says Cecilie Hollberg, director of Florence’s Galleria dell’Accademia
