:: Deadline Approaching- IT Return Tax Year 2015:

Please note the last date for filling of Income Tax Return for tax year 2015 is 31-08-2015 for;
• Salaried individuals having salary income for the tax year Rs. 500,000/- or more
• Non-Salaried Individual/AOP subject to final taxation and required to file statement u/s 115(4)

Further every resident taxpayer being an individual or a member of AOP filing a return of income for any tax year shall furnish a wealth statement and wealth reconciliation statement for that year along with return.

Following penalty provisions will be attracted for non-filling of return/statement:
1. Non-filling of annual Income Tax Return- Minimum penalty of Rs. 20,000/- subject to a maximum penalty of 50% of the tax payable. (in case no tax payable, penalty of Rs. 20,000 shall be levied)
2. Non-filling of Statement u/s 115- penalty Rs. 2,500 for each day of default subject to minimum penalty of Rs. 10,000/-
3. Non- filling of wealth statement- 0.1% of the taxable income per week or Rs. 20,000, whichever is higher
4. Exorbitant withholding taxes applicable on non-filers
5. Automatic selection for audit of Income Tax Affairs
