He is currently a student of commerce but took a break to take part in Pakistan idol. Syed Ali Asad Zaidi started singing at very early age, his is influenced by the rock and pop music of Pakistan. He took part in many music competitions and completed one as a Winner and one as a runner up. His style of singing by blending classic version with rock version accepted very well by judges and audience

Asad performances in Pakistan Idol critiqued positively due to the versatility of his tone. Asad was eliminated in Group 3 of semifinals, but was saved by judges as a fourth judges choice contestant. He has been critiqued highly positive throughout his Pakistan Idol journey

Ali Asad Zaidi had been singing since 2003. In 2013, he became a part of a reality singing competition called "Pepsi Smash", a show that is sponsored by the same sponsors as those of Pakistan Idol. He was brought to the producer’s of the show by a mutual friend before his Pakistani Idol auditions. But for Idol show he was selected on the basis of Judges yeses and on his performance.
