Missions Travel Testimony!
A long-time missions client to Africa set an appointment to talk about the possibility of cancelling a group of missionaries this week due to a flood outside of their guesthouse. As we were talking, it was impressed upon my heart to encourage them to pray about going anyways, even not letting the flood stop them if God was calling them to continue the plans. Of course God may prohibit them, but He could also help them to still be able to go.
[I was thinking about all the times God led me to do something and there was an obstacle that the enemy was trying to make so big, bigger than life, to stop me from going, and how much of life I would have missed if I had listened to THAT voice that was hindering me. And then there are also times when God puts an obstacle in the way TO stop me. It's just sometimes a matter of discerning what is God doing and what is the enemy doing...]
At the end of our call, both of us were so encouraged. I shared with her how God called me on a trip to Uganda one time and 5 days before the trip, I had to undergo a major surgery. I was so bummed thinking that this would prohibit me from going until the Lord made it clear to me that He could still heal me in time if He wanted me to go.
I shared with her how those 5 days were a faith-walk, and each day I kept feeling like I was not well enough yet, but didn't want to cancel plans unless absolutely necessary. Amazingly, the Lord healed me enough to travel right at that 5 day mark! If it was even one day earlier, I would not have been well enough to travel, but at day 5 I was strong and recovered enough to still go to Africa!
This testimony really encouraged my client, and I asked her if we could pray together. At the end of the conversation, I prayed for her and the Lord blessed me with the sweetest verse that came out in our prayer...
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.”
Isaiah 43:2
The Lord sometimes calls us to do hard things and to go outside of our comfort zone, because He has a greater plan, and lives He wants to bless through our faith.
An adopting mom bringing home a severely handicapped child once told me this:
"There is a fine line between discerning what is the RIGHT thing to do, and what is the ALMOST RIGHT thing to do."
