The U.S. Department of State is permitting an initial test of online passport renewal for 25,000 individuals on a first come, first served order.
There are restrictions as to who can apply online. SOME of those restrictions include:
1. Your most recent passport is/was valid for 10 years, and you are age 25 or older.
2. Your recent passport was issued over 9 years ago (in 2013) but less than 15 years ago (in 2007) from the date you plan to submit your application. Your passport can be expired.
3. You are not traveling internationally for at least five weeks from the date you will submit your application.

AH, MY FLIGHT GOT CANCELLED...what do you do next? If you're at the airport, get in the ticketing line ASAP. That line is going to get long very fast, and you want to be as close to the front as possible. THEN call the airline with your confirmation number. You'll either get it worked out over the phone and be able to leave the line, or you'll be in line already if it doesn't work out over the phone.

If you're still at home when your flight gets cancelled, call the airline ASAP. Even if they message you that they will rebook your flight. If you don't care about the schedule, you can wait, but don't expect the airline will automatically put you on an acceptable flight. Your best bet is to be proactive.
