Made it to the Pine Barrens for an evening swim and now I’m absolutely fascinated by the area. Really fun summer night although now I’m covered by some weird mutant bug’s bites and something bit me on the butt in the water (running theory is it was a turtle). Man, it’s crazy how remote you can get an hour and a half from philly though. Not tagging the exact location cause it’s definitely the type of place where you don’t want word to get out on. There’s no service, no light pollution and barely any people.

I like to do a year end wrap up on this page of my travel (and now Petsitting) and I felt unsure of what I could even talk about. When I think about 2023, I felt like I did nothing and went nowhere other than work. Yet, somehow, I actually did a hell of a lot in 2023. I hiked all over philly and beyond, I went to Mexico and curaçao. I housesat in Northeast PA and spent a whole month housesitting in literal heaven in New Hampshire. I also met a ton of pets, worked on my businesses slowly but surely, and had some fun along the way. I also had mini trips to NYC, got smoked out on my birthday by Canada (that was kind of weird) and also somehow forgot I took an entire trip to Alaska this year… so while I did work a ton last year, I think 2023 feels like four years in one. I spent time with friends, working on myself and physically pushed myself on some trails I never knew I could do! It was definitely a challenging year, but one I feel like was necessary for growth. I look forward to seeing what 2024 holds. Plans include a mini trip to Florida, working on my jobs, a lot of local hikes and some interesting trip ideas in the works.

I missed National hiking day the other day, so here’s just a few of the many hiking adventures I d been on. Most of my long hikes I say that I never want to hike again halfway through the hike😂 but for some reason I keep going on more and calling it my happy place.

You may (or may not) have noticed that I changed this page name recently. I’m working on combining my businesses as full service travel agency/petsitter service. How do these things go together? Well, you need petcare when you travel and you also need someone to plan your trip. I’ve been a travel agent for about 8 (!!) years now, but it took a back burner when I started my petsitting business. Now, I’m looking to get more focused on my passion - the travel agency part of this again. My kick off to that is I’m excited to say I’ll be attending a familiarization trip to Sandals Curaçao next month. This will be the second sandals I’ve stayed at and my first time in curaçao and I couldn’t be more pumped. Curaçao is an lgbt friendly destination I’ve wanted to check out for a long time and so excited about the opportunity. Follow along to see it for yourself!

It never ceases to amaze me how much tbere is to do in every pocket of the world that you never thought to explore. Northeast PA isn’t terribly far from me in philly. I’ve been up here for day trips and a visit to Jim Thorpe. But it is really blowing our mind how much there is to see and how we could never do it all in five says. Today’s biggest surprise was a pretty amazing live music venue.

Had my first regular client pass away yesterday. She was a super senior and not in good health, so it wasn’t a surprise, but I had still grown to love her like all my regulars. She had a kitty best friend who was always keeping her company. Won’t be my last client I lose, and it’s part of the job, but man it still hurts. I had a feeling this was coming and made sure to treasure my last visits with her. I’m Glad I got to meet Nola on her journey and I hope I made a difference, even if it was a small one.
