Hop on my ride is a brain child of Abhishek Malik a traveler,
adventurer, back packer from India based in USA. From childhood
Abhishek loved doing road trips and w

ander around. The first road trip
was when his parents gifted him a bicycle when he was 9 years old. Abhishek was thrilled to have wheels under him for the first time and
idea of going somewhere unknown, unexplored excited him and he just
wanted to go out and see what is outside his known boundaries. Abhishek went 10 miles away to a small village, road around farms,
forgot about thirst, hunger, time and returned home many hours later
where he was greeted by his furious parents who had been looking all
over the place for him by then. Abhishek’s next road trip was 200 miles when he was 15 but this time
his parents send a driver with him. He was a skilled car driver by
then but parents love and the fact that they were worried for a 15
year old in teens, they decided to send some adult company with him. Moving forward many years Abhishek landed in US for Masters. He bought
his first car( 1996 Nissan Altima) after saving money from an on
campus job. Now he had no fear of his parents and a vast USA in front
of him, he started exploring national parks of east coast and went to
key west and was just doing road trips all over the place. School soon
ended and so did his freedom and then he started working 9-5 jobs and
was stuck in daily routine. Only plus thing for him about the 9-5 job
was that he was able to make some money which helped him buy his dream
car Mustang. A lot of friends had moved on, were busy with jobs and
life so road trips were getting lonelier. He noticed that people use couch surfing, craigslist and a lot of
other websites to find people to do road trips with and there are a
lot of people who are looking for company during road trips because
they wanted to share their travel with someone, did not have a
driver’s license, were from outside USA, did not have a lot of money
and a whole bunch of other reasons. There were a lot of ride share
websites, applications but not even a single comprehensive website
connecting road trippers with other road trippers and travelers. One
day after realizing that he has been doing exactly the same thing over
and over again at his job( Contractor for Boeing) he decided that he is going to wind up by doing a road trip. On that trip Abhishek
decided that he is going to quit his job and “hoponmyride” was born.
