The idea of this event was to get small groups of people discussing different topics - some fun, some maybe more controversial, and some about our lifestyles in general. Socialising is something we work hard to channel during our activities & such guided events are the best way for people who don't know each other to connect & get to know each other better :) We had an awesome view too!🌅

Our first stop in Colombia 🇨🇴 The famous shrine of Las Lajas at the very south of the country ⛪ You see many photos of this beautiful church in blogs, but chances are that if you're not entering or exiting Colombia from the south by land, you won't make it here.

The shrine is renowned for its architecture, for a series of legends involving the appearance of the Holy Mary, and for a mysterious mural of unknown origin so it is very important for the locals - infact it is the 2nd most popular pilgrimage site in Colombia.

Yesterday, we were lucky to witness a number of baptisms & communions taking place here. Of course, the location of this church is what impressed us the most :)

Our time in Ecuador has come to an end, and with that so does our honeymoon which took us on an adventurous ride, right from the start 😃 From the laid back vibes and diversity of the Galapgos islands🏝️ follwed by our journey travelling from the south to north of the country, these 5 weeks have been great! We've hiked many spectacular routes and had the time to enjoy many adventures during our time here, we feel Ecuador is rather underrated and boasts such a wide variety of landscapes and natural wonders 🌋🏔️🥾

But our adventure doesn't come to an end here! Yesterday we crossed the land border from Ecuador to COLOMBIA🇨🇴and are excited to continue our journey here. In a week's time, we'll be leading a group trip here and we are eagerly waiting for the group to accompany us on a 2 week adventure along some of the best places to visit in Colombia! The adventure continues, stay tuned 🌎

Standing on the equator line, right in the middle of the world! Our plan was to visit the popular 'Mitad del Mundo' attraction in Quito, but we happened to come across the same line passing right through the Amazon, and this seemed to be a cooler spot! 🌍

🇪🇨Ecuador is named after this imaginary line that divides the northern and southern hemispheres. And even though the equator passes through 13 other countries around the globe, no other country exhibits this much pride in its unique geographical location at “the middle of the world” than here!

Time for some content from the Amazon 🌴🦥🕸️🐊 Ecuador will be the place we will always remember for the huge diversity of wildlife we've ever seen. We have just spent the past 4 days on a jungle adventure, staying in a very basic lodge in a remote location deep in the forest. Days involved jungle walks, manoeuvring the river looking for animals, night hikes, swimming, early morning bird watching and visiting one of the communities living here.

We managed to see a huge variety of insects including different species of spiders, crickets, grasshoppers and ants, butterflies, bats, anacondas and snakes, many different birds including the toucan, many different monkeys, caymans, frogs, lizards and even sloths, a capybara and pink dolphins! The incredible amount of flora and fauna was also impressive, not forgetting the mosquitos too!! The beauty of the whole experience was actually appreciating where we are in the world, a dot in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees, wildlife and untouched nature!

To our surprise, our lodge had wifi - a new addition to the jungle since covid but we decided to still disconnect and appreciate a few days of peace, away from the internet and it was a lovely break! It is very difficult to capture good photos of all the animals, but here is a good idea for you to enjoy 💚

A post from Sarah's perspective 👉🏻 This journey that taught me more than I expected it to! We just completed a multi-day trek in a very remote area in Ecuador, passing through very small and forgotten villages and indigenous communities in the Andes Mountains ⛰️ The hikes were quite intense, with an overall 2000m+ elevation gain over the span of 3 hiking days but the views were quite the reward! 😍

During the span of these hikes, I was really aware of how our mind plays tricks on us in moments where we are challenged! Motivation and mental strength can be more important that your actual physical abilities alone! As we hiked more, the better I understood myself & was able to enjoy the journey. Rest, nutrition & good gear are also a very important part of such adventures! Having a motivating and supportive travel buddy always helps too🧡

Ecuador is currently surprisingly quiet and we did not meet any other people hiking the same loop, meaning we also had the beautiful refugios all to ourselves every evening! It got really cold at night and we loved how there was nothing else to do other than rest, chat and slow down at the end of each hiking day. We played an endless amount of board games too!

The end of this 3-day hike led us to the Quilotoa crater lake, a collapsed crater 3km in width at an altitude of 3910m above sea level. Locals believe this lake is bottomless and is a very important place for them. My emotions were high during this journey but the sense of satisfaction at the end was big. Grateful to have made it 🙏🏻😌

This place was our tiny piece of heaven on Earth & an adventurers' paradise 🧡 We spent a couple of days in Banos, a small city well located in the middle of the mountains with loads of opportunities for big adventures surrounding it! We did rafting, which was a level 3/4 and quite a thrill ride, multiple zip lines, canopies, tibetan bridges and ferratas. We also cycled the famous Ruta de Las Cascadas and saw some amazing views and waterfalls. And Shaun was also courageous enough to do bungee jumping! 😬

Ecuador has been good to us so far and we feel the country matches our travel style and likings to the max 😃🇪🇨 We hope you have been enjoying the ride with us too through these posts 🌍🗺️✈️

Our next adventure took us to the high altitudes of the Cotopaxi Volcano, the 3rd highest active volcano in the world and also one of the most active in history 🌋 We hiked all the way to the start of the glacier at an elevation of 5100m above sea level, which is the highest elevation point we've ever reached on our hiking adventures to date! 👫🏻 Before our descent, we made a stop at the refugio, had our packed lunch and a cup of warm hot chocolate which was a very pleasant & soulful break! 🙏🏻

The climb, even though not a technical one, was still tiring due to the high altitude - but having acclamatised well over the past days meant we only had mild symptoms. Going down was fun as we sprinted down a steep, 'sandy' route 😎

🧡 Making it to Cotopaxi was one of the adventures we've been very much looking forward to before coming to Ecuador 😃

One moment we're at the beach, one moment we're high up in the mountains! ⛰️ We bid farewell to the Galapagos to make time to explore mainland Ecuador and it's proving to be our kind of vibe! It's crazy to think we're technically still in the same country doing very different things just a few days apart!

There are loads of opportunities for hiking and adventure in Ecuador which is also why we chose this destination for our honeymoon. Our first hike was a scenic one and a good one! 😌 We hiked one of the intermediate routes at Cajas National Park which led us to a mountain peak at over 4200m above sea level and came out feeling accomplished when the ranger told us we were the only 2 people who attempted this more challenge route for the day! Altitude is a thing up here and we're taking our time to acclamatise slowly in preparation for more hikes.

We look forward to sharing more adventures from ECUADOR with you 🇪🇨

Our last adventure in the Galapagos had us hoping we'd see hammerhead sharks🦈 but we were not lucky with this quest! We snorkeled in a very deep and choppy area in hope of spotting them but due to poor visibility and strong currents, we were left hoping for better luck next time!🤞🏻

✨This was quickly made up for though, as we had an unexpected sighting of 2 humpback whales - the guide told us this was the first sighting of the season as the whales start to swim north, away from the colder South Pacific Ocean 🐋 We were also treated to large schools of dolphins 🐬 swimming together and awesome views of the rock and the island itself. Will share some videos in a separate post.

Nature has indeed unexpected ways to amaze us 🩵

Today's event got our hands messy and we made ravioli! 👩🏻‍🍳 It was fun going through the whole process, all while getting our delicious plate of traditional Maltese ravioli ready for us to eat together!

Yesterday we hiked down to the crater of the Sierra Negra volcano, known for having the 2nd largest crater in the world with a 10km diameter! The Galapagos islands were formed solely due to layering of repeated volcanic eruptions and we find that very distinct and impressive!🌋

This is an active volcano and its last eruption happened in 2018. We visited a sulphur mine in the crater itself where we could tell the predominance of the sulphuric element through the yellow rocks and strong smell of rotting eggs🫢 The landscape was so unique and we really got to know more about the volcano's geology and how the islands were actually formed through this little adventure!

It's only been a week since we left home and it really feels like we've been here much longer! This place is an absolute paradise - we're seeing and doing so much, every day is special in its own way :) The islands are very quiet at the moment and the weather is really pleasant. The amount of different species we've encountered on land and under the sea is countless!

Less than 24 hours here and we've been greeted with the most heartwarming and abundant welcome ever! Greetings from the GALAPAGOS ISLANDS in Ecuador 🇪🇨🤍

One massive delay, 3 flights & a good night's sleep later, we're finally here! The Galapagos is an archipelago of volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean, around 2 hours flight from mainland Ecuador. It is one of the world's best destinations for wildlife spotting and is the place that inspired Charles Darwin to come up with the theory of evolution. In our very little time here, we managed to see so much already! We've got 2 weeks of hopping between islands before heading off for some exciting adventures on the mainland. We are so grateful and happy to be here on another adventure together ☺️🙏🏻

Your New Year plans cannot get any better ✈️😍 End the year and kick off a new one with an awesome adventure in Jordan! 🇯🇴 Our next trip will be taking place between the 26th December 2024 - 3rd January 2025. Based on your feedback to offer this trip during the holiday period, we want to give you this opportunity to start the year with us! Jordan is an amazing country and we love how most of its highlights can be explored in just 1 week. We'll be visiting Petra - one of the 7 wonders of the world, spending 2 nights at Wadi Rum desert and enjoying loads of adventures there, floating in the Dead Sea, snorkeling in the Red Sea, exploring some of the most famous cities & more!

Another big adventure is calling, this time with a 🍯🌕 twist! 🫣 We just landed in Madrid and will be here till tomorrow evening till we catch our next fllight. We've got a long 14+2 hour journey till we reach our final destination and even though we can't wait to get that part over, we're super excited to finally get there!!

We'll be answering the most common question that came along with the news of us getting married in a couple of days.. Stay tuned for loads of exciting content from our honeymoon! 👰🏻‍♀️🤵🏻🧳✨✈️

Till then, we're off hunting for Lindt ice-cream 🍦 (Shaun's favourite🤪) and doing some sight seeing on our 2nd visit in Madrid 🇪🇸
