Official Press Release

Mark Fuhrmann will complete an epic 11,000 km solo paddling journey today, Tuesday August 1st at 2 pm.

Mark Fuhrmann who has embarked on a rather unusual retirement. The 65-year-old Canadian, who has run maritime PR and marketing businesses in Oslo for the last 30 years, has swapped a business suit for a wet suit as he set out on the first ever kayak round-trip of the challenging 10,500km ‘Greater Loop’. In doing so, he aims to raise over EURO 100,000 for Leger uten Grenser and Captains Without Borders. The Greater Loop is from Halifax, Nova Scotia through Northern Canada, three great lakes (Lake Ontario, Lake Huron,Lake Michigan) and several rivers to Mobile, AL, cutting across the Floridian panhandle before crossing Lake Okeechobee to the east coast and then up to New York and eventually back to Halifax.

Fuhrmann, who undertook a 5,900km charity kayak from Oslo to Athens, Greece, in 2018, has called the expedition the ‘Reverse the Bad’ tour – a response, he says, to the current challenges facing humanity and the strains on our individual well-being.

He sleeps in a tent, helps homeless people, lifts people up through small acts of kindness, and tries to make the world a better place, step by step.

You can reach him on his email: [email protected] or cell phone: 902 870 2642.

Mark Ervin is paddling The Greater Loop, a 10,500 km kayak journey to raise money for people who want to reverse the bad.

Good morning

Just a quick confirmation that Mark Fuhrmann will complete his 11,000 km solo paddling journey and fundraiser at 2 pm today, Tuesday, August 1st.

He will arrive at Kayak Halifax at 630 Francklyn Street, Halifax. We are located in the President's Lodge on the campus of the Atlantic School of Theology.

Please feel free to arrive anytime after 12:30 pm. We have vistas that will capture the final 15 minutes of his approach along the Northwest Arm.

I do have a few extra kayaks available to greet Mark on the water.

Mark will also be available for interviews on-site until 5 pm. We have an indoor space also available in the event of rain although rain might capture one of the elements he encountered throughout his journey.

I will be here to greet and direct media.

Hi everyone

Anyone with media contacts, please DM me.

My friend Mark is a few days away from completing an epic solo paddling journey of 11,000 km.

He departed KAYAK HALIFAX in early June 2022 and we anticipate his arrival to the site of his 1st paddle stroke on Tuesday August 1st at approximately 2 pm.

He is raising funds and awareness for 2 great causes - Doctors Without Borders & Captains Without Borders.

We would also love to have NS paddlers greet Mark when he arrives.

We are located in the President's Lodge on the campus of the Atlantic School of Theology at 630 Francklyn St, Halifax near Point Pleasant Park.

Please DM me if you would like to join.

The Greater Loop is a 10,500 km kayak route through Canada and the USA.
