Great day on Upper Red today! It was an all day bite with most of the action coming on set lines with plain hooks. Until January 10th I will be offering all day portable trips. I will meet you at the resort at 7 am and pick you up off the lake at 6 pm. You will receive a ride in a side by side and fish out of a Clam Yukon TC. Heat and lights are provided. Just bring your rods and bait. $40 a person, two people fit in the house.

We have 8-10" of ice out here on Upper Red. Fishing has been best in 10-12ft of water in low light. Red/Pink 1/8oz rattling jigging spoons have been working the best.

The July new moon provided us some action last night. My good friend Tim had the hot hand with 4 fish and a new PB! The husky medussa was the bait of choice.

Got this bluebird skies muskie while casting open water with a Husky Medussa. Two turns of the handle into the retrieve it crushed the bait and went airborne a couple times before it was put in the net. Great way to end the vacation!

Got a nice one trolling on Lake Vermilion last evening. Saw a bunch of bait on the side scan and hit the throttle and ended up making this chunky fish eat. Congrats Sam!

Had a great opening weekend! Ended up getting two fish on Saturday, a mid forty incher and a 50+. Both of these fish ate the new Husky sized Medussa from Chaos Tackle. Started out the year with a bang by putting the 50+ in the bag first.

My two good buddies Nathan and Tim and I made a return trip to Mille Lacs to catch some more smallies. We all ended up getting our personal best smallie and left the lake with a smile. Most of the fish were found along wind blown shorelines with boulders and quick access to deep water. The new 6'10" Medium Custom X Lures and Rods Spinning Rod from Chaos Tackle Company did the job nicely. Tubes were the number one method, followed by crawfish imitation jigs. Even stumbled across a few bonus walleyes. Everyone should take advantage of this world class fishery while they can!

My two good buddies and I made a trip to Upper Red Lake and Mille Lacs over Memorial Day Weekend. The plan was too catch as many walleyes as we could and hit Mille Lacs on the way home to take advantage of the smallmouth bite. On Upper Red we caught numbers of walleyes, even approaching 100 per day, trolling Shad Rap and Flicker Shad #5's on the 5-7ft first break. We also had success pitching 1/8 oz jigs tipped with minnows in under 5ft during the evening hours. After having our fun with walleye Saturday and Sunday, we hit Mille Lacs for a couple hrs in the rain on Monday. We had our best luck on Wacky Rigs in very shallow backwaters and even ran into a few bonus largemouth. The weather wasn't the best so we are going to be making a return trip back this weekend before the muskie season gets into full swing.
