Tourists can experience the rich art atmosphere of Norway in the museum, art gallery and surrounding landscape. The Folk Custom Museum of Norway is the largest domestic museum. There are many paintings shown in the Munch Museum, which were created by the famous painter Edvard Munch during his childhood. In the Viking Ship Museum, you can see the well-preserved Viking ship which was made in the 8th and 9th century. Norway nurtured many great artists, such as the international celebrity in the music scene Royksoppand and the prestigious film maker Harald Zwart. In addition, the famous Painter Edvard Munch, dramatist Henrik Ibsen, contemporary actress Liv Ullman and scientist Thor Heyerdahl are all from Norway.

Compared with other North European countries, the natural scenery in Norway is more charming and unique. Norway has a rather short independent history, so the Norwegian people cherish the hard-won freedom very much. On their national day, the Norwegian people will put on clothing with national characteristics and gather together to celebrate this most important day.

Norwegian people particularly like sports. As long as there are public holidays, every family will drive the car and go to suburban areas. Summer in Norway is ideal for some aquatic activities. Hiking, cycling and fishing are three most popular summer activities in Norway. In the winter, 90% of people will choose to ski and skiing is a source of pleasure for the Norwegian people. Heavy snow turns Norway into the best ski field in the world. The Holmenkollen ski-jumping board is one of the most famous symbols of Oslo. Every year, it attracts numerous tourists and skiing-lovers.

Although Norway is located in the northern part of Europe, it is not a complete chilly country. In fact, there are four distinct seasons here and temperature in summer is usually above 25 degrees. Colors in four seasons there are enough to highlight the charm of nature. When spring comes, fresh air once again rouses nature, parks and streets are livelier, and picturesque mountain ranges become more magnificent. In autumn, the cold air color Norway with gorgeous red and yellow. If people pay a little attention, they may find that almost all the houses are in warm tone, constituting a beautiful picture with blue sky, yellow leaves, bright flowers and clear water.

Introduction: Haunting, windswept, wild, empty, beautiful. Imagine the gratitude and wonder of the first Polynesians who, after voyaging at sea without sight of land for more than a month, finally made land here at Ka Lae. This sweeping landscape arches openly and inviting from the tumultuous shore break at Ka Lae to the icy heights of Mauna Kea's summit almost 14,000 feet above.

South Point is the farthest point south in the entire United States...not Key West Florida, as some guidebooks claim. The road to Ka Lae from the Hawai'i Belt Road is infamous, but has been greatly improved in recent years, although it's still only 1-lane wide in many places. Even today some rental agencies admonish you not to take their cars down this road. Relax. The road is fine, although blind turns and hills command your attention and should curb your desire to speed. Also, all the roads, beaches, boat launching facilities and parking are free and public, despite what some signs and unsavory characters might try to tell you. Just don't leave valuables in your car, and be sure to lock it up (there also is no "Visitor's Center", contrary to the sign).

Along the road to Ka Lae are the brooding and dilapidated wind turbines of the Kamaoa Wind Farm. This wind farm, when all of the turbines are operating, can generate enough electricity to power 100 homes; unfortunately, usually 1/3 to ½ of the turbines are out of service at any given time. The surreal setting on the green plain with the cows grazing unconcernedly, coupled with the eerie, "sci-fi" sound of the generators makes this a unique place to stop, look and listen.

At South Point proper are a number of dilapidated structures and foundation ruins. The Army had a barracks here during World War II; the paved road was built in 1955; during the sixties, the Navy built a missile tracking station which the Air Force later took over and renamed South Point Air Force Station, which closed in 1978.

Ancient cultures that dominate the northern Atlantic Ocean and Baltic Sea areas come together and are known as Scandinavia. In recent decades, these lesser known nations have risen to become global powerhouses and are coming up on the radars of many tourist as millions flock to visit these unique nations to the north. Here are a few of the best places to consider if you are looking to experience something new on your next trip to Europe.

1. Sweden
From the picturesque capital city of Stockholm to the chilly arctic north, there is a lot to explore in the nation of Sweden. This country boasts some of the most unique architecture and hotels in the world. You can enjoy the forest by staying in an actual tree house or even stay at an entire hotel made out of ice. Sweden is also one of the greenest countries in the world with a host of inexpensive mass transportation available to get you around to all reaches of this expansive nation. You can explore the history of the Baltic Sea life or the palaces of the Swedish royalty. Northern Sweden is blanketed in beautiful, arctic forests and is the home of the famed Icehotel. You can enjoy the northern lights fireside and experience life where, in the summer months, the sun never sets. Southern Sweden will find you enjoying beautiful sandy beaches and charming cottages, not to mention some of the best food you'll have anywhere in Europe. Wherever you choose to roam, Sweden has it all.

2. Finland

Finland is a perfect combination of contrasting beauty. It has some of the most modern and technologically advanced cities coupled with the wild beauty of vast forests and lakes. No matter which way you wish to spend your vacation, you'll find the best of both worlds in Finland. Any time of year, you will find unique attractions that are found nowhere else on the globe. The Finnish people are friendly and warm as well, making any trip here especially pleasant. You can get around the country in a number of ways, from train, bus or car to bicycles, skis, or even sleighs. You can explore the blue oceans by cruise ship or steamships as well. Take the kids to visit real live reindeer or whale-watching for an experience they will never forget. The northern lights can be viewed in the northern regions and travel around the country is easy and relatively stress-free making Finland a perfect spot for an unforgettable family vacation.

3. Norway

The landscapes of Norway are truly some of the most breathtaking in the world. The famous fjords are unlike anywhere else on earth. The Geirangerfjord is complete with snow-covered mountains, cascading waterfalls, and lush green vegetation that will leave you stunned. You can explore these unique areas through cruise or sightseeing trips, on a kayak, or just a relaxing mountain hike. Here you will find world-class fishing, idyllic mountain farms, and even skiing in the winter. In the northern area of Svalbard, you can watch unspoiled wildlife like polar bears or even try some dog-sledding on a unique safari. Hills, forests, and fjords surround the capital city of Oslo. There is extensive public transportation as well, making it very easy to explore and get around. You can get a taste of Scandinavia's Viking past by visiting some of the Viking museums or get a taste of culture at some of the Opera houses the city offers. Tour the city by foot, bus, or boat as well. There is a wealth of concerts, restaurants, pubs, and night clubs that will have you enjoying the arctic circle well into the night.

4. Denmark

Located just to the north of Germany, Denmark is easily accessed during any trip to Europe. This tiny country is full of history and boasts tons of fun things that your family will love. The Tivoli Gardens, in Copenhagen, will delight your children with roller coasters, live music, and fireworks. Then a trip to the Copenhagen Zoo gives everyone the chance to see his or her favorite arctic animals up close in the native environment in the north. There are countless art museums and those dedicated to the storied history of the area. You can also visit the largest Renaissance Castle in Scandinavia. The list is endless in the picturesque nation. If you can tear yourself away from the charm of the capital city of Copenhagen, Denmark has many other great places to explore. South Zealand, for example, has beautiful white cliffs bordering the Baltic Sea giving you a great place to hike and explore the wilderness, not to mention sugary beaches that attract beachgoers in the summer months. West Zealand will have you ready to experience life as a Viking while exploring historic fishing villages amongst the stunning fjords. Whatever nation you choose, Scandinavia includes stunning, wild beauty that is not to be missed.

Norway is known for its scenic fjords, pillaging Vikings, hiking trails and wooden churches. It is an eclectic mix of modern amenities and medieval towns. Each of these tourist sites gives you a slice of Norway, the past and the present. Here's a list of the top 7 tourist attractions in Norway if you're planning a vacation some time soon.

1. The Viking Museum -
The Viking Warriors occupy an important place in the history of Norway; they were the rulers of the country during the medieval times. Vikings were deduced to be a seafaring community based on the sophisticated and full-sized ships they built. The museum exhibits their ships and other artifacts including textiles and household items unearthed from their tombs.

2. Geirangerfjord -
Norway is known for its many fjords and Geirangerfjord is the most beautiful among them. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The deep blue waters are surrounded by towering cliffs with abandoned farmsteads teetering over the edges. The greenery and the cascading waterfalls add to its beauty. Your Norway holiday is incomplete without a ferry journey here and some hiking and fishing too.

3. Holmenkollen Ski Jump -
Norwegians and skiing are inseparable; it is their favorite pastime. The Holmenkollen Ski Jump is the largest steel ski jump in the world. The best time to visit is winter; however, it offers no less fun the year round. This sports venue is a great tourist spot for adrenaline junkies. You can participate in the annual ski jumping competitions or take the lift up 100 meters in the sky to get a bird's eye view of Oslo. There is a museum on the grounds too.

4. Akershus Fortress and Castle -
Built in the 13th century, the Akershus Fortress borders the Oslo Fjord. It was built to protect Oslo (then Christiania) from invaders. The government uses the premises for state functions. It also houses the Royal Mausoleum.

5. Stave Churches -
You will find many stave churches scattered across south and central Norway. Most of them were built in the medieval ages. However, they are still in good condition. These fairytale churches shrouded in myths of trolls and other mythical creatures vary in their size. There is the Urnes Stave Church and the Heddal Stave Church you can visit.

6. Bryggen, Bergen -
Bryggen is another tourist magnet in Norway. Nestled among lofty mountains and scenic fjords, this open air museum tells the history of the city in a unique way. There is an entire lineup of colorful, wooden buildings overlooking the waterfront. Once residences, they have been converted into restaurants and boutiques. Here you can also take a look at the fresh seafood being sold since this city was known for its seafaring trade.

7. Vigeland Sculpture Park -
Gustav Vigeland was one of the most skilled sculptors Norway has produced. Hence, almost every travel blog dealing in the must visit places in Norway makes a mention of him. His life works are on display at the Vigeland Sculpture Park; there are more than 200 masterpieces. The dark colored statutes are a good contrast against the lush greenery. There is a giant fountain surrounded by various commanding figures each representing a different aspect of life namely death, rebirth, aging and the likes.

This is but a small list of the don't miss places in Norway. The country has a lot more attractions to offer an enriched holiday experience. TravelMagma gives you all the details you need to plan your vacation whether you're dropping in for a week or weekend.

Three Things You Should Bring on Every Hike:
1:Rain gear and extra clothing. Because the weatherman is not always right. Dressing in layers allows you to adjust to changing weather and activity levels. Two rules: avoid cotton (it keeps moisture close to your skin) and always carry a hat.

2:Safety items: fire, light, and a whistle. The warmth of a fire and a hot drink can help prevent hypothermia. Fires are also a great way to signal for help if you get lost. If lost, you'll also want the whistle as it is more effective than using your voice to call for help (use 3 short bursts). And just in case youre out later than planned, a flashlight/headlamp is a must-have item to see your map and where you're walking.
