Scottsdale in springtime is even better when it includes sister time.
With so many choices and so little time, what to do in ? My answers began with a hot air balloon ride at daybreak with and a long table dinner and tour at Frank Lloyd Wright’s home, Taliesan West.
Here’s just a peek of today’s Scottsdale - from an intro cocktail party at the newest addition to its collection of properties, , to a day at (falcon included), and my first, but not my last, stay and it’s back-in-the-day vibe. Thank you
One of my favorite things to do in Nayarit is drink from a coconut with feet in the sand on Sayulita’s beach.
Texas. Bluebonnets, Ft Worth Stockyards, John Wayne Museum, Nachos and more. These are a few of my favorite things.
Celebrating the eclipse the Denton, TX way began with a glass of prosecco, charcuterie board (featuring Brie topped with peach jalapeño jelly), followed by a near total eclipse, hamburger served on a ‘black’ bun at LSA (Lone Star Attitude) on Denton Square and a ride on near empty I-35. Interesting day.
Question: Any random guesses where I decided to travel to view the solar eclipse? ‘Subtle’ hints follow.
Cheers to Mexico City and a few of my favorite things . . . Traveling with wonderful colleagues (again). Mariachis. Street food. Street vendors. Hibiscus mescal margarita. Appetizer with fried grasshoppers (though maybe not as much as the margarita). Hasta luego!
Mexico City. Day 3. So many neighborhoods — all different, all special. From Frida Kahlo’s Blue House in Colonia del Carmen to the Centro Historico district, home to the Cathedral, Aztec ruins, National Palace and more, Mexico City has it all. 🇲🇽
Mexico City. Day 2. Xochimilco (a community south of the city), its chinampas (floating gardens) and the trajineras (colorful, gondola-like barges) comprise an exclusive-to-Mexico-City combo typically known for its party boat atmosphere. While we also went for fun, our behind-the-scenes tour took us to the farm of Rosa and Marco Polo, where we picked fresh vegetables from their impressive ‘floating’ garden from which our lunch was prepared and served on their land. 🇲🇽

Mexico City. Day 1. A six-stop walking food tour through Colonia Roma with Alma representing . From Broka Bistrot within the courtyard of a 1900s home to fish tacos at Casual Birria and a final coffee at Cafe Barajas, this was an informative, delicious intro to Mexico City. An unscheduled stop at Plum yielded a shot of a mescal-based, pineapple juice combo filtered through coffee beans treat. Cheers to the many flavors of this multi-faceted city! 🇲🇽

More Chattanooga. Cuisine and culture. From the street art, Hunter Museum and independent art galleries to morning drinks at Rembrandt’s Coffee House, bourbon tasting at Chattanooga Whiskey Experimental Distillery and dinner at Tony’s Pasta Shop & Trattoria, it’s all here. My MUST-DO tip: Go to River Street Deli and let owner Bruce Weiss suggest what to order. I did and it was my best sandwich ever.
More Chattanooga. With the Westin Chattanooga as our home base, Kathryn and I explored. We traveled 13 stories below ground level at to view its underground waterfall. We navigated Lookout Mountain via a SWINCAR with Adventure Sports Innovation. And we traveled 6 miles from downtown Chattanooga, TN, to Georgia’s Rock City Gardens where we walked through caves and over a swing-a-long bridge along the Enchanted Trail to the area’s most magnificent view.
Another marathon (no need to be impressed; I walked), another city. An invitation to the 9th Erlanger Chattanooga Marathon was all I needed as an excuse for my first-time visit to this southeastern Tennessee city.
When I think of Ensenada, I see its colors. But when I feel Ensenada, it’s the hospitality I most remember. Thank you Lui Hussong (yes, of the famed bar), the two Victors, Mayor Armando Ayala Robles and Coral Marina Hotel.

In Ensenada, it’s all about the food, the margaritas, the beer . . . and the fun!
Tip: Two requirements are necessary to enjoy these made-in-Ensenada experiences 1) an assortment of hats and 2) a sense of adventure. Here’s to zip lining, ATV riding and boating on the bay!
