celand, a Nordic island nation, is defined by its dramatic landscape with volcanoes, geysers, hot springs and lava fields. Massive glaciers are protected in Vatnajökull and Snæfellsjökull national parks. Most of the population lives in the capital, Reykjavik, which runs on geothermal power and is home to the National and Saga museums, tracing Iceland’s Viking history. @ Goðafoss

The Day of the Dead (Spanish: Día de Mu***os) is a Mexican tradition celebrated throughout Mexico, in particular the Central and South regions, and by people of Mexican heritage elsewhere. The multi-day holiday involves family and friends gathering to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died, and helping support their spiritual journey be. In Mexican culture, death is viewed as a natural part of the human cycle. Mexicans view it not as a day of sadness but as a day of celebration because their loved ones awake and celebrate with them. In 2008, the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. @ Mexico City, Mexico

@ Cuba, La Havana

“The best thing that has happened to Manchester is the IRA bombing”

The recorded history of Manchester began with the civilian settlement associated with the Roman fort of Mamucium or Mancunium, which was established in about AD 79 on a sandstone bluff near the confluence of the rivers Medlock and Irwell

Manchester's unplanned urbanisation was brought on by a boom in textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution and resulted in it becoming the world's first industrialised city.

Its fortune declined after the Second World War, owing to deindustrialisation, but the IRA bombing in 1996 led to extensive investment and regeneration @ Manchester, United Kingdom

Construction began in 1883 during the reign of Alexander III, 2 years after the assassination of his father Alexander II. The church was dedicated to be a memorial to his father, Alexander II.

Estimates suggest that the construction cost 4.5 million rubles. The construction was completed during the reign of Nicholas II in 1907.

The Church of the Saviour on Blood is a museum of mosaics. In the pre-Revolution period it was not used as a public place of worship. The church was dedicated to the memory of the assassinated tsar

More from Russia! This is St. Isaac Cathedral.

Saint Isaac's Cathedral or Isaakievskiy Sobor (Russian: Исаа́киевский Собо́р) in Saint Petersburg, Russia, is the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city.

It is the largest orthodox basilica and the fourth largest (by the volume under the cupola) cathedral in the world.

It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great, who had been born on the feast day of that saint.

This year I went to Helsinki with Kristella and visited an amazing island|fortress 10 mins away by boat, the island has an amazing history and is a nice place to spend the afternoon walking between forests and traditional finnish houses.

The suomenlinna fortress was one of the strategic points the Swedish empire built to control the baltic sea and the commerce between russia and sweden from 1748 - 1808.

It was then conquered by the russian who developed the fortress and the island as a checkpoint from 1808 - 1918 when they lost the island to the Finnish independence and was renamed Soumenlinna (Castle of Finland) and became an UNESCO Heritage. @ Suomenlinna

Saint Petesburg

The city of the tsars, the venetia in the north is an amazing vibrating city.

The creation of westward-looking Peter the Great, St Petersburg was intended from its inception as a display of imperial Russia’s growing status in the world.

Fine-tuned by Peter’s successors, who employed a host of European architects to add fabulous palaces and cathedrals to the city’s layout, St Petersburg grew to be the Romanovs’ showcase capital and Russia’s first great, modern city.

You can spend days in the Hermitage, seeing everything from Egyptian mummies to Picassos, while the Russian Museum, spread over four sumptuous palaces, is perhaps the best collection of Russian art in the world.

Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
The King and his men stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her bones
The seas be ours and by the powers
Where we will...we'll roam
Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never say we die
Some men have died and some are alive
And others sail on the sea
With the keys to the cage
And the devil to pay
We lay to Fiddler's Green!
Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die
The bell has been raised from its watery grave
Do you hear its sepulchral tone?
A Call to all, pay heed to the squall
And turn your sail towards home!
Yo, Ho haul together, hoist the colours high
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die

“… and then you fall in love with two cities, two countries and two cultures. No one has prepared you for this, yet, you embrace the change, strangers become friends and then family. Nevertheless, homesickness startle you, but what do you miss? The people you love, the food, the places you always knew, perhaps, how all these things makes you feel and suddenly your start to feel the same in this strange new place, slowly making a room in your heart and in your life.

Is sooner that you start to also call this place home, you know it temporary and yet it feels so close, so warm, so real that you become a better version of yourself, you realize that you could make a great life at this new home.

And then everything smokes, the dream end and you understand that for you it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, in was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair. And yet I have had the weakness and have still the weakness, to wish you to know with me how this love happened and still I wish…” G. Villegas

...and you can be so many things, and yet, you've chosen to be shaped by sadness, to be fractured by it. You've chosen pain, hurt, suffering and you have because it's the easy way out. Because you think you don't deserve to be happy. Because your past makes you believe you don't have much to offer, at least not enough.
But you're wrong and sometimes the past is a liar - it can make you believe you don't deserve any better. It can change you into a different kind of person, into someone who has forgotten how to love - how to believe in the goodness of the human heart. It's wrong, it all is, but not you.
You're not all terror, you're not all sadness and tragedy. You're so much more, so why do you put yourself through so much knowing the difference between what's right and wrong, between what you deserve and what you don't. Why do you let people who've hurt you back in? Why have you let so much time pass doing nothing about it?
You can be so many things, so why can't you find reasons to be happy. You deserve a break apart in the company of soft hands and you deserve a kindness so gentle - it would make flowers wish they fell from your head - you deserve, that's the keyword here and once you believe, you shall receive.
All good things come to those who believe in themselves.

Legend has it that long ago when Goliaths roamed what is now known as the British Isles, they battled each other fiercely to expand their personal kingdoms. Irish giant Finn MacCool was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant Benandonner. Finn accepted the challenge and built a land bridge, a Giant’s Causeway, across the North Channel from Ireland to Scotland to attack Benandonner.

Upon completion, Finn headed across the Giant’s Causeway but when he caught sight of Benandonner he realized his foe was a much larger giant so he hid while he rethought his strategy. Finn’s wife, Úna, cleverly dressed him as a baby and laid him in a cradle at the Irish end of the Giant’s Causeway. When Benandonner advanced and saw the huge “baby,” he assumed the baby’s father, Finn, was a giant among giants and promptly ran back to Scotland in fear, destroying the Giant’s Causeway behind him so Finn couldn’t follow.
