Pool floats, patios and peacocks! I've not given this resort much clout, but despite an early arrival of seagrass ruining the beach, this budget friendly resort is still a big hit! Wonders galore for little eyes. Iberostar Hotels & Resorts

Here we go again.

While the new U.S. travel system rolling out Nov. 8 will open borders to more foreign tourists, there will be tighter rules for some Americans too.

I haven't yet posted about my most recent trip to Mexico. Honestly, I was a little nervous going to Cozumel due to the hardships the island has faced. Seeing it without the cruise traffic seemed like a once in a lifetime I couldn't resist. It was my first trip with just my daughter, so I tried to be extra careful. I feel like I'm a very street savvy traveler, but sadly, I was robbed in broad daylight. Luckily, my daughter didn't see. Who knows what she would have done. There were so many of them just waiting in the bushes. I was not hurt and I managed to catch a video. I'm posting it in the comments because some of the theives are very young, practically babies.

This is a post from a friend who is an American Airlines pilot -

Copied from a colleague…Great advice…

If you are flying anywhere this month, on any airline…
Pack snacks and PB&Js, bring a refillable water container, portable charger for your phone, bring a cheap light extension cord with a power strip or outlet tripler for charging in a place where there are very few outlets, a deck of cards or UNO, download extra movies on iPad, if you have wireless headsets also bring old school plug in type, bring a light blanket, go to the airport 1 extra hour earlier than you would have, bring your patience, and a mask. If you must travel with kids, go to Dollar Store and buy new toys they have never seen, give them these during delays. You can also buy the blow up arm floaties, to use as pillow or lumbar support for your back. Small portable fan or paper fan. A tennis ball to use to massage you aches.

Airlines don’t supply pillows or blankets anymore. There is no food onboard to buy or give, usually there is not enough beverages for 2nds.
Fill your water bottle in airport, or buy a bottle. There is not enough bottled water onboard to fill your container, nor are we allowed to fill it.

If you are booked on last flight of the day, be prepared that you might end up spending the night in airport.

Do not check your medicine or keys in your luggage.
Bring a Pen!! You may have to fill out forms, or need to write down info.

I have been in this business for 30 yrs and I have NEVER seen it this crazy! Every airline is short staffed, gate agents are working alone at gates for oversold flights, the wait times to get through to reservations are 3+ hours. Restaurants and stores can’t get people to work. Super long lines everywhere. LOTS of mechanical issues, weather, staffing issues none of which is due to frontline employees. They are as frustrated as you are. They are EXHAUSTED! This has been happening to them EVERY DAY for over a month, with no relief insight.

So I am asking you to BE VERY KIND TO EVERYONE. It’s always appreciated. We always bring treats, whatever they may be to the agents and flight attendants.

DON'T bring your pets if you don’t have to.

I didn't know what to expect from a market with tethered roosters, but it had some nice surprises. Meeting nearly everyone, including "Los Gallos", sharing a beer and finding this pretty shell piece =a great day in the DR.

Sometimes I joke that I'm really good at staying at fancy hotels, but seriously... I am. This morning, I was able to sit on the beach and chat with the only early bird vendor, Pepe, swim the entire lazy river, just me and the pool boy. Came back to enjoy some coffee and a beautiful grapefruit left for me by housekeeping. Then at 8, I headed down for a mimosa with traditional Dominican breakfast. I encourage you to research your destination, enjoy the amenities, and above all, meet the people. I've always found that fellow hospitality professionals want to welcome you, share their traditions with you and make sure you have the best time. I LOVE my job. Happy Travel Advisor Day to me!

So this is what's for breakfast in the DR today. Plantains, yucca, beef tamale and tamarind juice. Yay!

I'm headed somewhere I haven't been yet, The Dominican Republic. When I travel, I love getting up super early, hitting the beach, then eating a local favorite that is out of the norm. What do you think they'll have in the DR?

Sales for the month were 20% higher than in March 2019, which turned out to be the best year ever for the host agency.
