This coming Friday, on the night of February 10-11, there will be a special lunar eclipse taking place on a full snow moon. The eclipse will be visible for those in North America, Europe, Africa, and most of Asia, so sky gazers across the world can look up to watch it, weather permitting. During the eclipse the moon will appear to be cast in subtle, silvery darkness, as the Earth’s shadow falls upon it.
Lunar eclipses occur when the sun, Earth, and moon all line up in that respective order. As the moon passes behind our planet and enters into the Earth’s umbra, its shadow, the resulting alignment causes the shadow to fall upon the moon, making it noticeably appear a few shades darker. However, since this lunar eclipse is penumbral, rather than total or partial, the moon won’t actually enter the umbra. Instead, it just barely misses the Earth’s strong inner shadow and as such will be immersed in the outer weaker portion of the Earth’s shadow, which is called the penumbra. That’s why this eclipse will be much subtle, as compared to a total or partial lunar eclipse.

From a historical perspective, the full moon in February is traditionally known as a snow moon because the month is often both the coldest time of year and when snowfall tends to be the heaviest. However, what is even more interesting are the astrological implications of this month’s full snow moon and lunar eclipse taking place in Leo. The celestial events usher in a time for changes and new beginnings and the resulting shift in energy will have a profound impact on people’s lives. So while this month’s beautiful eclipse may be fleeting, in the weeks and months ahead you will end up feeling its effects in a very meaningful way!
Even though each and every one of us will experience a personal change, which may be slight or life-altering, here are the more significant ways in which this lunar eclipse may affect us:

The January New Moon on the 27-28th is one of the significant “starting energies” to the year ahead and is going to help shift away the cobwebs of 2016.

As you have probably heard by now, 2016 was a year of endings, which means that 2017 is a year of new beginnings. This death and rebirth cycle is playing out in all of our lives in some way or another, and perhaps in the coming weeks you are going to start feeling the “rebirth” occurring.

This rebirth energy won’t fully shift into gear until the Spring Equinox, however the January New Moon in Aquarius is definitely going to start setting the wheels in motion.

Aquarius energy is all about starting fresh and thinking bigger. Aquarius energy is also about finding new meaning to things and thinking outside of the box.

This Aquarius New Moon is a great time to start thinking about things in a new way and perhaps viewing things in a different light.

With all the crazy unexpected things that are happening in the world lately, the upcoming supermoon set to happen on November 14th will finally give us something that we can all look forward to seeing. The full moon that rises in the night sky next Monday will be a truly spectacular sight to behold, one that is actually worthy of our attention and appreciation. That’s because the moon will shine brighter and appear larger than it has in the last 68 years!
The rare November supermoon is certainly one for the record books, not since January 25, 1948 has a full moon come this close to Earth. If you’re wondering what it takes for the moon to attain supermoon status, it’s the right combination of the location, timing, and phase of the moon. First and foremost, the moon has to be in either its illuminated full moon phase or the dark and entirely invisible new moon phase. Then the moon’s orbit must bring it around to the one exact point where it comes closest to the Earth. Finally, there is the timing and these two factors must closely coincide with one another for the moon to be called a supermoon.


While all full supermoons appear super-sized and much larger and brighter than usual size, this November one is extra special because it’s happening when the moon is the closest to the Earth that it has been in the last seven decades. As such, it will likely be the biggest moon you’ve ever seen.
There are many other implications which are linked to this special lunar event beyond the scientific meanings, and perhaps the biggest one is the cosmic shift in energy that will accompany it. This month a rare super full moon will rise in the sky on the evening of Sunday October 16th, ushering in a cosmic shift in energy which will end up affecting everyone on the planet. Black Moon 30th September, new beginnings for all, time to embrace these changes and let yourself heal the wounds of the past.

A special and rare lunar event will be taking place this weekend and right along with it a major shift will also be occurring. On Friday night, September 30th, a new moon will rise in the sky, the second one to fall in September as the last one occurred back on the first of the month. Whenever this happens, two new moons within one single month, the second one is called a Black Moon.

Lunar events like Black Moons are quite rare. In fact, saying that they happen “once in a blue moon” wouldn’t be wrong! They are very similar to Blue Moons, which is when two full moons occur within one month, and so they are polar opposites in terms of moon phases. Furthermore, both Black and Blue Moons occur about once every 32 months or so, meaning years may pass before the next one comes along.

Since new moons are essentially the first phase of the moon and are not visible, you won’t be able to see the Black Moon. Nevertheless it will be up there in the heavens exerting a powerful force upon our planet and our lives. The cosmic shift in energy that the Black Moon ushers in will end up affecting us all in one way or another. Astrologically speaking, new moons are times for new beginnings and starting over. They also offer us the perfect time to tap into our natural instincts and so during new moons you should always go with what your gut is telling you. September 16th marks the second lunar eclipse of the year, and the final eclipse of 2016.
So what does this eclipse have in store for us? Let’s get to it!

Just as with any full moon, the lunar eclipse is a time to focus your attention on all the varying kinds of relationships in your life. There will be help from this eclipse in many ways: breaking away from self-limiting thoughts, and gaining clarity in our lives and how we see ourselves.

It’s going to have a dark side too- where there is light, there must be darkness. All of those deeply hidden and dark emotions you have been carrying with you for the past few months are going to come to the surface. This is so you can reevaluate them and determine if they are helping you in your purpose, or hindering your progress.

And we can’t forget about the Saturn Square Neptune (SSN) which will be affecting our internal struggles until the end of this month. SSN helps us all to gain a clearer understanding of our boundaries and barriers, and assists us in defining which ones we need to break down, and which ones we need to build. Additionally, SSN will continue to challenge us to make sure we are pursuing our passions and our goals- if we’re not, we should expect some conflicts to arise.

September’s Lunar Eclipse is all about the truth. If you’ve been hiding from something or ignoring an aspect of your life, it is all about to be revealed; the veil is lifting. When we acknowledge the truth, when we look it right in the face, only then can we make an intelligent decision on how to move forward. Hiding in the shadows keeps us stagnant.

Yes, the truth can be painful at times, we all know this. But if we are to live an awakened life, and expand our consciousness, we have to admit the truth within ourselves and our lives. Going through this pain will help us to grow and flourish where we need it the most.

When things arise and you start to notice them, don’t push them aside- they’re important messages from the Universe! You are strong enough to handle the truth, and you are strong enough to keep moving ahead.

With the truth comes emotions. Sometimes those emotions and feelings can help us to release pent up frustrations we might have had. Seeing things clearly will be a challenge, with all those feelings in the way, so we need to maintain focus on the goal- the truth.

Doing something creative is the best way to channel this energy, and it helps us to let our mind subconsciously clear out those cobwebs. Do some writing, paint, listen to or play some music…these are excellent ways to channel those angry or frustrating feelings.

There is only growth with this Eclipse. Allow these energies to help you, move and shape you. They will help you to see beyond the veil, and grow from our revelations. After all, the truth will set you free.
