Built in 1762 Sham Castle was built for Ralph Allen who owned the limestone mines in Bath. He wanted to able to see it from his Bath townhouse and also use it as an advertisement for ‘look what you can do with my stone’. It overlooks the city below.

Our walking Bath Tour Guide, Tony, had the pleasure of showing this wonderful bunch of American gardeners around our wonderful city yesterday.
Tony is a retired Bath police officer so crowd control is a breeze! All of the iconic landmarks visited along with the amazing floral displays the city’s parks department create for us. All topped off with a visit to The Roman Baths.
Great job Tony

We have some exciting news. The Bath Tour Guide is expanding! And no, I don’t mean my waistline. For the 2025 season we will be joined by Jim Moreton as one of our guides. Jim was a police officer in Bath for many years. He has since pursued a successful career as an accomplished author of crime novels set in Bath. He is also an avid fan of Bath rugby as well as the rich history that surrounds us.
So watch this space as Jim joins us to give you a tour you won’t forget.
Welcome Jim

When Adge The Bath Tour Guide isn’t available. Tony The Bath Tour Guide is available offering our wonderful clients a unique insight to Bath. Like me, Tony is a retired police officer having served for 30 years. Today we welcomed a group of New Zealanders to Bath. Of course they had to talk about the rugby! Wonderful feedback.

If I were stood on this spot 958 years ago I’d be looking at an army of between 5000-7000 Norman soldiers under the command of William, Duke of Normandy. The other photo is the place where Harold Godwinson was killed. In popular culture by an arrow in the eye! Probably not but why let the truth get in the way of a good story! What is true though is that on one day here where I am now, English history took a different course. Every school child in England knows about this battle and after 60 years I’m finally here. I am definitely walking in the footsteps of history.

Castle or a Sham Castle?

A little bit about us...
Let me introduce myself. I am Adge Secker and am lucky to have worked in the City of Bath for 30 years having recently retired as a Police Officer here. I am immensely honoured to have been awarded the Queens British Empire Medal earlier this year for my services to Policing and the Community of Bath.
I am a keen historian, especially when it comes to our beautiful City and have been providing tours of Bath, surrounding areas and further afield for many years.
We offer a wide selection of walking and driving tours and I have a fully licensed luxurious VW Sharan which seats 6 people. We also provide transfers to and from all major airports.
Our tours are commended for their unique and fun delivery and we ensure clients have a memorable and insightful experience.
I am proud to be Adge's wife and run our Tour Guiding business together. I have extensive experience in Events Planning, Business Management and Customer Service. Adge and I work as a great team to ensure that when you book through The Bath Tour Guide you have a smooth and memorable experience from start to finish.
I have lived in the beautiful City of Bath for 40 years and have also worked for the Police for the last 12 years organising some wonderful events in prestigious locations including The Roman Baths, Pump Rooms and Assembly Rooms.
Adge and I visit our tour locations together to ensure that your visit includes everything you could wish to see. Our absolute favourite place is The Cotswolds - it is a must!
