HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM TWELVE MILE ROCK!

My New Year’s resolution is to be perfectly imperfect.

Sometimes I get into mischief and wreck something (but not often). Sometimes I tear the tail off a bear or knock over one of Mom’s plants. Sometimes I bark about nothing really. Sometimes I bite my Sister’s nose until she growls at me. But mostly I’m a pretty good pup!

You and I, we’re not for everyone, I mean, look at those ears! But, if we’re lucky, we are SO loved by those who truly know us! I hope you’re as lucky as me in 2024 and know that you are loved for being perfectly imperfect.

Lake Superior, a cosmic playground

My wife and I got married in July and we had an amazing time on the North Shore for our honeymoon!

This night we spent time out under the stars photographing the Milky Way at the tombolo. We were even greeted with meteors lighting up the night sky all around us. I got lucky to have a meteor pass right through the heart of the Milky Way in a photo!

It was one of the most perfect nights out under the stars that I’ve photographed on the North Shore with calm waters, clear skies, and even a bit of green airglow present near the horizon.

I had fun creating this image with various base exposures lighting up the tombolo in the foreground to bring out the details in the foreground.
