If you've not seen Sea Smoke on Lake Superior, it is magical. It was very cold on this morning, -25 degrees. The kind of morning when a sharp breath catches in your throat.

The average water temperature of Lake Superior in January is around 36.3 degrees Fahrenheit (2.4 degrees Celsius) - compared to approx 50 degrees during our Summers.

According to Wikipedia: Sea Smoke forms when a light wind of very cold air mixes with a shallow layer of saturated warm air immediately above the warmer water. The warmer air is cooled beyond the dew point and can no longer hold as much water v***r, so the excess condenses out. The effect is similar to the "steam" produced over a hot bath or a hot drink...

HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM TWELVE MILE ROCK!

My New Year’s resolution is to be perfectly imperfect.

Sometimes I get into mischief and wreck something (but not often). Sometimes I tear the tail off a bear or knock over one of Mom’s plants. Sometimes I bark about nothing really. Sometimes I bite my Sister’s nose until she growls at me. But mostly I’m a pretty good pup!

You and I, we’re not for everyone, I mean, look at those ears! But, if we’re lucky, we are SO loved by those who truly know us! I hope you’re as lucky as me in 2024 and know that you are loved for being perfectly imperfect.
