You have found, what I hope will be a great source of knowledge for you whether you are traveling to TCI as a tourist or you are from the islands. Weather is as important as just about any part of a daily routine. What you know about it before you begin your day sets the tone for everything from how you dress to what kind of transportation you may need to take for the day, to what kind of activiti

es you want to try to do. I am here to help you figure all that out when traveling to TCI! My name is Paul Wilkerson, and I have been a meteorologist now for 21 years with a vast array of experience in forecasting. I have provided forecasting services for many locations in the U.S., as well as foreign countries covering much of Europe and the Middle East. I completed Mississippi State University's Operational Meteorology program (52hrs) and operate another page for weather information for the state of Arkansas. This page....in addition to helping the tourist...is to help the wonderful people of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Sometimes information does not get out properly and any additional information from a reliable source can help the communities. It is an effort to help others. Good morning everyone,
After a quite loud early evening on Provo yesterday, I would not anticipate anything of the sort today.

There is however quite a bit of dense cirrus over the islands thanks to thunderstorms over islands to the Northwest of the Turks and Caicos right now. These storms will subside with time today and could bring some rainfall into the islands through early afternoon. The chance right now stands at 40%.

Beyond today, expect scattered high clouds with occasional daily tropical showers with only a 10% chance each day through Saturday. Plenty if sun will be had with UV indexes topping 10 this week. Hot conditions thanks to Southeas lt winds of 10 to 15mph as well with highs this week of 91 to 93F. Lows in the evening will range from 79 to 82F.

Nothing stirring in the tropics for now. Keeping an eye on that as well. If you have travel plans to the islands in July through September, I would highly highly recommend travel insurance.

Looks like things are generally quiet across the islands except for isolated showers possible each day...the typical 15 minute variety. Chances are about 20% on any given day. Plenty of sun too.

Winds will stay pretty consistent from the East at 10 to 15mph with occasional gusts to 20mph.

Temps upper 80s to low 90s.

Nothing to worry about Tropics wise next 7 days, but we are anticipating an active season.

Good afternoon everyone,

Looks like a mix of sun and clouds across the islands this afternoon with more sun than clouds.
This generally will be the outlook daily for the islands the next 7 days. At times there could be some overcast skies but should see plenty of sun as well, but at times it will be filtered through clouds.

No significant rain chances in the next 7 days overall, but will keep a 20% chance in daily just for the occasional tropical downpour that lasts 15 minutes and then moves on.

Higher rain chances may be beyond the 7 day period but it is too far out to get into right now.

Winds will be consistent from the Southeast at 15 to 20mph the next 7 days with temperatures 87-91F the next 7 days.

Have a good week on the islands!

Paul

Good afternoon everyone!

Looks like it has been quite the turbulent day judging by the satellite image of the islands. Flash flooding has likely become a very big problem as well.

In the short term, I don't have spectacular news. Thursday should see a slight repreeve, but with mainly cloudy skies as storms will likely encompass islands to the Northwest of TCI as well as portions of Cuba. The blowoff from these will move across the islands.

On Friday, expect another disturbance to work its way through TCI, bringing another very good chance of thunderstorms. Chance currently stands at 80%. Exacerbation of flash flooding can be expected unfortunately. These storms should last into the night Friday evening and likely into the morning hours of Saturday before moving East. Saturdays rain chances stands at 80% in the a.m., decreasing to about 30% in the afternoon, with the exception of GT where chances don't go down until closer to 6 p.m.

The islands should get a chance to dry out from Sunday through atleast Thursday of the coming week. Little if any rain will occur. Plenty of sunshine will be around, however there could be periods of clouds as well.

It appears another disturbance might work into the islands next Saturday, but that is 9 days out so will refrain from discussing at this time as the accuracy of data and decisions that far away are difficult.

Winds through Friday will be from the South at 9 to 14mph before turning friday afternoon from a Northerly direction at 9 to 14mph. Winds should once again be from the South by mid-morning Saturday at 5 to 10mph and remain that way through Sunday.
By Monday, winds will start to increase with winds from the South at 12 to 18mph, and by Wednesday into Wednesday night, expect wind speeds to increast to 15-20mph with gusts as high as 30mph.

Temps on Thursday likely return to the upper 80s, with highs on Friday likely near 81F. Saturday should be about 86F before upper 80s and 90F return next week.

Have a great weekend!

So what's the weather like? Looks like it should be raining out there this morning.

30/05/2024

Good afternoon everyone. Ex0ect enjoyable weather through Saturday midday with mainly sunny skies.

A tropical wave will move aceoss DR and Haiti on Friday and arrive in the islands by Saturday afternoon with rain chances increasing as well by late in the with that chance being about 50% by sunset
Cloudy conditions look on tap for Sunday with a 70% chance of showers and thunderstorms, with some localized flooding possible.
Expect rainy conditions to possibly linger into Monday with a 70% chance in the morning, dropping to 40% by afternoon.

More tranquil weather returns for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Winds will be from the East to Southeast through most of the period with speeds 10 to 15mph. By middle of next week they may turn Northerly.

Temperatures with sun will be near 90F, with high during the rainy period expected to remain in the 80-83F range.

Have a great weekend!

Paul

Good afternoon!

Looks like it is rocking and rolling across the islands today! Big thunderstorms developed between TCI and Haiti this morning and are moving across the islands now and will continue to move North to Northeast through the rest of today.

Expect rain chances to remain quite good through Thursday as a disturbance remains in the area. 80% chance through Thursday afternoon with mainly cloudy skies.

Friday through Sunday look good with mainly sunny skies and typical island weather.

Another disturbance may encroach the islands by Monday, with rain chances returning....at around a 40% chance for now, but expect those chances to go up if data remains the same and satellite confirms down the road.

Temps today and tomorrow generally in the low to mid 80s. Upper 80s to 90F this weekend, with mid 80s as we start next week.

Winds generally from the East at 5 to 10mph the entire period with the exception of Friday and Saturday when winds will be from the North at 6-12mph.

Hey guys!

Had an epic eclipse here in Arkansas last week.
Times have been busy as ever.

Weather for the islands looks great if a bit breezy.
Primarily sunny skies with a passing shower here or there next 7 days. Winds Nprtheast at 15mph gusting to 25mph next 2 days, then relaxing to winds of 12mph gusting to 18mph for the rest of the period.

Good afternoon everyone! I hope this finds you all doing well.

Weather across the islands should be rather benign the next 7 days overall with perhaps an outside shot at a shower on Saturday.

Generally sunny skies will be the rule with upper 80s for highs.

Winds out of the South to Southeast through Friday afternoon at 10 to 15mph. A front will move through Friday afternoon that will provide a Northerly wind of 8-12mph which will gradually shift to the Northeast by Sunday with speeds of 15-20mph. These winds generally should persist through the next 7 days and could become stronger by next Wednesday. This will need to be monitored.

That's about it weather wise. Looking good for travellers!

Good morning!

A couple of really beautiful days coming up across the islands with mainly sunny skies through Friday. Winds generally out of the Northeast at 5 to 10mph tholrough Thursday with winds changing to Easterly at 18-25mph by Friday, with temps in the 80s.
By Saturday there could be a few more clouds as the day goes on as a system arrives from the Northwest.
Winds will be from the East at 18-25mph with temps in the 80s.

On Sunday, cloudy skies with sporadic sun will be seen with a 60% chance of showers off and on through the day as a cold front moves through. This will switch the Winds to the Northwest at 10 to 15mph and temps generally staying in the 70s.

Have a GREAT day on the islands or wherever life finds you :)

01/02/2024

Life and work has been stupid busy lately, so I haven't had as much time to be here. I am incredibly sorry. I know the inconsistency is crappy :/

Things should slow down a bit after end of March...but until then I will get by here as often as I can to post weather updates.

For the first 7 days of February, expect weather to be a bit chaotic. May be a bit more cloud cover for Friday than normal with mostly cloudy skies at times. Winds today out of the North at 15-20mph, but settling down for tomorrow with winds of 5-10mph.

Saturday looks good overall with sunny skies and North winds at 5-10 mph.

Sunday clouds may move back in, along with a threat for rainshowers in the afternoon and evening as a system approaches. Winds will turn to the south and be increasing in speed through the day to 15-20mph by sundown.

Monday into Tuesday looks a bit crummy in general. Clouds will be present along with some showers. I do think sun will be seen as well these days, but so will cloud cover. The story here is really the winds. Winds will begin the day at 20mph gusting to 25mph. By nightfall Monday, expect winds to be 20mph with some gusts approaching 35mph. It could be downright windy.
This will last into Tuesday midday before winds swing to the West and speeds settle back to 15mph with gusts to 20mph. There is a window on Tuesday morning where some gusts to 40mph may be possible. Will continue to watch this.

By Wednesday, winds will be from the North and skies will be clearing with mostly sunny weather retunring. Will be breezy however with speeds of 15-20mph.

I would anticipate rough seas for Monday through Wednesday next week as well.

Temps generally in the 80s.

Paul

Happy New Year!!!

Praying for a blessed 2024 for each of you :)

Today it will be cloudy the entire day, and expect a 90% chance of rain showers off and on as a cold front moves through the islands. Temps will be cool in the upper 70s to low 80s for highs. Winds will be from the North at 10mph, increasing to 15mph later in the day.

For Wednesday through Sunday, mainly sunny with passing clouds. Low to mid 80s for highs. Chances of rain less than 20%. Winds will start from the North on Wednesday at 10mph but switch to a Southerly direction on Thursday and become lighter with speeds of 5 to 10mph. Winds likely will vary on Friday before becoming Easterly at 10-15mph.

Have a great rest of your week on the islands!

Good Friday everyone!

Hope you are all well and busily preparing for the Christmas holiday.

In the islands the weather is decidedly good, however it is windy....and will remain windy over the next 7 days. We are probably going to throw in some rain also.

Today should remain mostly sunny except for GT where clouds will mix with the sun at times. Breezy and 80s for highs.

Clouds increase tonight and tomorrow from the East. Expect a mix of sun and clouds Saturday with about a 40% chance of showers, especially in the afternoon and overnight hours Saturday night. Winds from the East at 15 to 25mph.

Sunday morning should present with clouds and some rain showers before clearing occurs throughout the morning into the afternoon. Winds from the East at 20 to 30mph. Temps in the 80s but will feel fairly cool overall.

Monday, should be mainly sunny but could have periods of mostly cloudy skies and a 30% chance of showers. Still windy with 20-25mph winds from the East.

Tue-Wed will be sunny with windy conditions with breezes from the Southeast at 15 to 25mph. Temps in the 80s.

Skies should clear out by Tuesday with sunny skies returning into late week.

Temps generally in the upper 80s to possibly low 90s.

27/09/2023

Good evening everyone,
Philippe continues to move slowly to the West.
Conditions will continue to become unfavorable for further development.
In fact, pretty strong shear is present just ahead of Philippe and once it runs into that, Philippe will struggle to remain tropical.
Over the next few days we should see Philippe weaken significantly.
What is left of Philippe will move West and basically just be a trough of low pressure as it moves towards Haiti and DR. It should be broad enough that clouds will increase across TCI with increasing chances of rain and thunderstorms by late in the weekend.

Eventual track of the remnant will have a significant impact on cloud cover and rain.

Will continue to monitor and update....however, it appears that Philippe will NOT pose a significant threat to the islands this week or weekend.
