Office of Foreign Assets Control to operate licensed People-to-People itineraries to Cuba. A series of set itineraries and special interest itineraries can be fashioned and priced for legitimate groups utilizing the enormous experience and numerous contacts the owners have developed over many years of exposure to the island, its culture and its people. Here's their unique story:
What do 2 ladies
from different parts of the US, different ages, different lives have in common? The answer is a passion for the island of Cuba and its people. Miriam Saul and Marla Whitesman began their Cuban experience at the same time, December 2000, but for very different reasons. Miriam returned to Cuba after an absence of 39 years longing to find her lost childhood and her memories. Marla went to Cuba on an early cultural exchange. Both returned to the US having experienced a profound life change. For the last 12 years they have been primarily leading trips to Cuba to help the small Jewish Community that has been enjoying a Renaissance. Through the years they have earned respect and great reputations as leaders who work to deliver a clear view of the island and its people. Their Cuban contacts are from all walks of life: doctors, engineers, drivers, laborers, educators, religious leaders, artists, etc. They have cultivated true friendships with individuals on the island who assist them in their quest to deliver a rich experience to their People to People groups visiting Cuba. In order to expand and broaden their scope, Miriam and Marla recently sought and received this license. This license is the very sought after "stamp of approval" from our government to legally travel to Cuba with purposeful interaction on the island. These itineraries deliver maximum exposure to life in Cuba today. And all participants must participate in all activities.
