These days Costa Rica celebrates Holy Week, what is known in many countries as Easter 🤍

On the most important days, Holy Thursday and Good Friday, many religious activities and ceremonies are carried out to remember the last days of Jesus Christ and his resurrection on Sunday, as narrated in the Bible.

To celebrate these days, all public and private services remain closed on Thursdays and Fridays, while schools, universities and some other government institutions are closed throughout the week.

It is also a time of much national tourism. If you are visiting our country these days you could come across a “procession”, which is a type of parade that represents biblical passages 🤍

Costa Rica’s two international airports report an increase in tourist arrivals The Juan Santamaría International Airport, in the capital San José, registered an increase of 11.1% in tourist arrivals in February 2024, compared to the same period of the previous year. ✈️

Likewise, the Daniel Oduber International Airport, in Liberia, Guanacaste, also presented a very important increase, of 28.0% growth in the number of tourists during the same period of the previous year, according to migration data processed by the Costa Rican Institute of Tourism.

2023 was the best year in the entire history of Costa Rica in terms of tourism! 😍

The country received two million 471 thousand 150 visitors.

In 2019, two million 418 thousand 300 people visited us by air, we closed 2023 with almost 53 thousand more tourists, a result of the timely promotion of the destination in our main tourist source markets, said the Minister of Tourism.

The United States led with 1,431,644 tourists, followed by Canada with 242,970 and Mexico with 81,964 people.

The Turrialba volcano is one of those unique destinations that you must include if you want something different in your Costa Rica travel itinerary 🌋

It is located in the province of Cartago, 24 km from the city of the same name and about 53 km from the country's capital, San José.

With its summit located at 3340 meters, it is the second highest volcano in Costa Rica, surpassed only by the Irazú Volcano.

Turrialba is one of the most active volcanoes in Costa Rica, but it is safe to visit. It is inside a National Park that offers all the information and facilities to explore it 🌋

Meet the Tamanduá 😍

This mammal, also known as the honey bear, lives in the forests of Mexico, Central America, and South America.

In Costa Rica it can be seen in Corcovado, in the south of the country.

It is a nocturnal, solitary and arboreal animal that lives in forests with a density of lianas and close to water.

Tamanduas feed on ants and termites and can reproduce at any time of the year. After a gestation period of 130 to 150 days, a single calf is born.

If this wasn't enough, of its miriad of amazing characteristics, Costa Rica ranks as the #1 country for happiness, has 99% of its energy that's renewable, in 1948 it dismantled its army and last year banned all zoos. I’m living with my young son Max and our puppy in real paradise. We are new here, we moved in and Tamarindo the most famous destination for tourists in Costa Rica from Russia one year and half. I’m freediver, can reach 40 meters depth without tanks. I was training locals and organized open water tours for tourists before lockdown. Now here not to much people as before, mostly only locals who lost their jobs too. Our community already organize food bank for 5000 hungry people. And we are trying to find solution all together how to live in a new reality. Tell in comments, where are you from and what’s going on in your place, please!
